OT- Mission Complete

Post by TX50Cal »

Well, as of today I am no longer in the Navy Reserves. I have retired. My actual ceremony will be on the 12th, but my orders say I am done. 15.5yrs active, 5 reserves. Think I'm gonna miss it but will be able to make important things like scouts, basketball games etc.. now. Just wanted to let yall know since you have been like an extended family for awhile now.

Congrats Dave, and thanks for your service.

Now that you have 20 years to work left, what will you do?

Can you use your training from the USN to get a job? I know many guys who were corpsmen that had to go back to school to become "EMTs" all over again, even though they were working in the OR and as paramedics.

Glad to see you home safely and soundly.

Dave;
Thanks for your years of service.
Enjoy your retirement for many, many years to come. More guns. More ammo. Less ammo. More ammo. Repeat as necessary.
Grace and Peace, and Happy New Year.

""Now that you have 20 years to work left, what will you do?""

I work for the US Dept of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Been working there for the last eight years, except for the 2 yrs I got recalled after 9-11. Been doing the weekend reserve duty after demobilization. So the job is covered, just no more duty, recalls or shaving every month for drill:)

Congratulations!

I was recently told, don't know if it is true, but only some 18% (of the reserves I think) retire. Enjoy your 'extra' time... :wink:
Sincerely,

Hobie
