OT- Old Sheriff's holster rig.
I pick up this old cartridge belt about a week ago. It matches pretty good with the old holster I have had for some time. They both came from around the border of Texas-New Mexico in the Pecos River area. Tom Granger was a Sheriff in Eddy county New Mexico for over 40 years. He passed on years back. The 38-40 is mine. It was made in 1920. It is my size so that's a bonus. I thought y'all might want to see them.

Outstanding!! I like the way he had his initials placed -- haven't seen that before.
Am thinking I would like to have a similar one made for my favorite pistola.
Would it be possible to get a photo of the back of the belt?
Also, do you have any back-story on the holster itself, when made, by whom, etc?
You mentioned "it was made in 1920." I take it that means the .38-40. Do you know when
the belt was made, roughly?
Thanks much, and i sure appreciate your sharing. That's one of the nicest rigs I've gotten
to see in a good while!

John in MS, Here's the back. The holster is unmarked. It has a small sterling silver engraved concho on it that is typical of the New Mexico-Arizona area. The cartridge belt was probably made around WWII, a little before or after. The holster was probably made in the thirties. Good luck!

RangeRider,
Thanks very much! That rig has real personality!
One last question, if I may: what width is the belt?
Thanks again,
John

Re: OT- Old Sheriff's holster rig.
I wore leather gear for over 30 years while policing, and it was never as classy as the old hand tooled border rigs.
ONe holster I always wanted to have replaced was the Tom Threeperson rig given to me by Mr. Bryce for my 27 smith
VERY NICE RIG!!!!!
