Save Grizzly Bear(the 30/30 would do in a pinch), I think you have all your bases covered there. Very nice collection. You Grandfather's Stevens Double is a treasure to have. Love the wood on there! Thanks for sharing.

Hit the math books HARD this year, go see your counsler & tell him/her you want to go out west and sign on with a survey crew; they will be able to direct your efforts, move all your electives toward that goal.
On a survey crew, you will get to travel, see some great country & get paid for it, perfect first job for a young, adventureous, bright guy.

been there done that, tough life, but there is nothing like experience.
No college or trade school will give you that.
Don't fall for the first pretty girl to make eyes at you, there is plenty of them out there.

PH,
The livestock concessionaire's at the national parks always need help, theres always outfitters around the parks that need help and during the winter I would attend a farriers school, theres good money in shoeing stock plus that moves you up the food chain anyplace you work. danny

Dannny,
Thank you for the tip on the farrier thing.
Here is a young man on the right path, and we ALL complain about the young ones these days.
We should all be chipping in and helping him however we can.

Just make sure that when you reach the Kalifornai stateline... STOP!
In your shoes I'd go up to Alaska. And avoid the wimmenz like the plague as they usually will anchor you down.

They sure have some pretty wimminz in Montana...both my boys got tangled up good and tight. Was not so bad I guess as I love my new daughter in laws.
Not very many wimminz in Alaska and the good one's go quickly. They can weight you down but it is mosty them heavy carhart coveralls they wear
Oh how I remember the excitement of heading for Alaska as a youngster with a couple rifles, backpack and my old Jeep. It has been a huge adventure and I wish you the same.
Good Luck there PrimitiveHunter. Keep your nose to the wind and may your quiver be full of possibilities.

Tell her your plans and offer to drag her along. If she says no, ditch her and move on with your plans. Women are great... but they often put a crimp in a man's plans and dreams.PrimitiveHunter wrote:Thanks all!
