OT Me and a rabbit and a smokey scattergun.

Post by Nath »

Strong gusty winds and showers here today and I've been itching to get the real shotgun out!
I have not shot my ML since the end of Jan and today after work I could not resist. Working Tia in brambles she bolted a few, great fun :D

Love it :D

Nice one Nath! Of all the muzzle loaders I've played with, the shotgun was the most fun.

I was thinking about a M/L shotgun just the other day and then here you are... it must be a sign.

very kewl Nath. Wonderful post and pictures as always. Blessings. Was thinking of you and Game Keeper tonight. I recently took possesion of Cable's Brown Bess and tonight I was pouring some .715 balls for it for future range work. I was thinking that I just may try to shoot only BP this hunting season Starting with Dove season in Sept, then small game, Muzzle loader early season, more small game, general Deer season and late season muzzle loader. The Brown bess provides the possibility of this. I plan on working up some shot loads for this one. I picked up the necessary 11 gauge cards and wads, to try to get patterned for some bird and small game loads. The history of the Brown bess had me thinking of my brothers across the pond

Always enjoy your posts

Nath, I always enjoy your reports and photos. Keep them coming. I saw some deer running wild up near the Scottish border about half way across. Have you tried hunting those? Especially in the highlands?

Thanks for the pictures and stories Nath. Alway a good read when you post and it brings back memories of the times that I was stationed in Edzell, Scotlan from 1968 through 1970.

Lots of great people in Great Britain and some really good fishing too.

Looks worst than it is friend. Good ole'30wcf. She was shot twice by me. Once at 60yds and then after a run a second at 80 or so yards. The two bullets were within 2" of each other. The second one put her down.

bigbore, it is a Pedersoli double 12g of IIRC 1983 vintage.

I removed the horrid varnish from the stock and stain and oiled it revealing some grain.
I had to tune the locks a little and regulate the barrels some as they were way off POA and to be honest may need some more regulating I noticed the other day!

Just lately J I have been removing the saddle and sliceing the straps. Then fry it in olive oil with garlic and mushrooms or onion served on a crust. Quick n' simple :)
