Where do I go to get rid of a Desoto 6 gasket set?

Post by Hobie »

Among the many oddities found at Mom's.

Anyone collect drafting stuff?
Sincerely,

There's a magazine called, Hemming's Motor News that's virtually nothing but ads. It's for serious collectors. You could possibly get top dollar for that gasket set by selling through them.

Gee wiz Hobie, can't you just take the gasket set back to the Desoto garage and get a refund? I'll bet it cost close to $5. That would be lunch money for a week.

Aside from the usual compasses and curves is this big brass roller thingie (darn CRS prevents correct description from rising to the tips of my fingers  ) in a nice wooden box.

I also found a navigation aid...

I've never sold on the E word before .

But over the past 4 weeks I've been selling a bunch of my rifles as well as stuff in a gunsmith friends shop .

My gunsmith buddy had a bunch of junk he had gotten from another older man who thought himself a gunsmith . Anyway we sold much of the stuff he got on gunbroker and the more less desirable I thought it was the quicker it sold !
Parkers , Mannlicher Schoenauer’s , 6.5mm's and my family in the Philippines !

Hobie, I think you're describing a parallel rule. It's used in navigation to determine the compass direction of lay lines, or to transfer the compass heading to a line... it's a nice collectible piece and in good condition should be worth much more than its weight in brass. Not a drafting tool. What other navigation device do you have? Do you have a picture?

My daughter might love to have a brass rule like that. Are there any markings on it? Could it be a war souvineer (sp)?
