OT - Gun I.Q. Self Test
No polls, no facts collected, just a self test. Quick, easy and informative (for me, anyway). Ashamed to say I only scored an 8...

Re: OT - Gun I.Q. Self Test
Tricky wording....they said crime VICTIMS used a gun to defend themself....where I would have posited that a victim had NO means to protect himself, or he would not have been a victim...anyway...... I got 8, as well.....

Re: OT - Gun I.Q. Self Test
I got a 9. I figured Switzerland was more armed than the US
Re: OT - Gun I.Q. Self Test
I got an 8 as well for this and the other reason mentioned. I just read that there are other countries with higher PER CAPITA firearms possession rates.edwardyoung wrote:I got a 9. I figured Switzerland was more armed than the US

I got 8 but would have got 9 if I hadn't hit the wrong button on one of them.
Not bad since its all American and I'm not.

Re: OT - Gun I.Q. Self Test
Perfect score.
I've always been a good test-taker, though.
The only one I wasn't sure about was "Using a gun to resist a criminal is dangerous to your own safety."
Technically, the introduction of a firearm obviously increases the potential danger, but statistics show that firearms users rarely have their guns turned on them.

Re: OT - Gun I.Q. Self Test
Thanks! Passed it on. 9 out of 10 - "US most heavily armed" - I'm still not sure about that one. The "victims often use guns for self defense" - well, I guess if you're forced to defend yourself you're a victim in some peoples' minds. I "erred on the side of PC" and got it right. Now to wait for the feedback from passing it on...

Re: OT - Gun I.Q. Self Test
7 of 10... I should have realized it was FSU offering it and there were no trick questions.
I would have thought the Swiss were a runaway favorite for the most armed though.
Put the questions in another form and they would be less questionable as to the meaning.

I aced it, too - but like others here, I've always been good at tests.

Re: OT - Gun I.Q. Self Test
I scored a 9 because the first question is somewhat misleading with the word "victim".

10 of 10. The "shall issue" question was somewhat suggestive as to illegal aquisition of handguns.

9 of 10 also--"most heavily armed" seems so hard to believe when you don't see many people carrying...

Re: OT - Gun I.Q. Self Test
Got hung up like everyone else on the heavily armed question, thinking it was a percentage versus absolute numbers. IIRC, Israel would be more heavily armed than the US on a percentage basis.

Re: OT - Gun I.Q. Self Test
It would have helped if I'd seen the word 'not' in one of the questions...
Doctors for Sensible Gun Laws
"first do no harm" - gun control LAWS lead to far more deaths than 'easy access' ever could.

I thought Switzerland or maybe Finland.edwardyoung wrote:I got a 9. I figured Switzerland was more armed than the US
And I had a problem with the "victims often use guns for self defense"... define "often" as a percentage because I wont buy the "more times than not" definition that is often associated with "often".
Hey I just noticed that the more you type "often" the weirder it looks...
Often
Often
Often
Often
... yep.

I got a 10 for 10, on my second attempt! Only got 9 the first time!

Re: OT - Gun I.Q. Self Test
Me too, also thought that Sweden and Norway would be in there too as I read somewhere that "Scandinavian countries have the highest percentage of households with firearms". I'll dig it up, it said that 2/3 of the homes in Norway have a firearm of some sort and the other's are right behind.mklwhite wrote:I thought Switzerland or maybe Finland.edwardyoung wrote:I got a 9. Doesn't anyone find it interesting that this was a Pro-Gun quiz, posted on a College Website??? Perhaps political stances are slowly changing in the world of higher education?

Maybe they don't own as many guns, but have higher percentage of gun owners?Old Time Hunter wrote:Me too, also thought that Sweden and Norway would be in there too as I read somewhere that "Scandinavian countries have the highest percentage of households with firearms".
