Hi Gang,


I am a "black gun" type that has found an unusual path to lever guns:
I own a big bore AR15 which fires a cartridge with ballistics very close to the 45/70, this naturally made me curious about the 45/70 so I am thinking of buying a lever gun in 45/70.

Professionally I have been an InfoSec and UNIX consultant for 14 years; I live in Philadelphia, after spending most of 2008 in Riyadh. If anyone every has any computer security, forensics, or UNIX related questions by all means don't hesitate to PM me. :)

I also speak a little Arabic, Persian, and Urdu.

I look forward to learning a whole bunch from this forum,

Would that be the 458 Socom or 450 Bushmaster. What are they like to shoot? Yes you would like a 45/70 whether a Marlin or Winchester. Welcome to forumn It still is the best one around :)

30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

You must be OK, as you have the same initials as me and your from the same area. :D I live about 25 miles sw of Philly (cop murder capital :x :evil: :cry: ) about half way between West Chester and Media.

Thats OK with the black gun thing--I just got my first after shooting the old leverguns for close to 40 years--Be talkin' to 'ya.
