EMF 92 problem

Post by ihmsa70 »

My EMF 92 in .357 shoots mediocre groups with every load I've tried, and that is a bunch!
I slugged the barrel today. There is a constriction where the rear sight dove-tail is. The slug measured .350 and .355. (lands & grooves)
Any suggestions?

If new, send it back. If used and no warranty, I would lap it. Some folks fire lap but I hand lap if it is needed. A little harder to do but you have much better control of the results.
I cast a lap on a rod and use progressively finer laping compounds (available from Midway/Brownells) until constriction is gone. You may have to cast 2-3 laps as they loosen up in the bore. By laping from the breech end you can stay away from the muzzle and lap in a choke that will improve accuracy .

If it's new, send it back for repair.

If it's not, lap it. I would fire lap and hand lap.
