About three months ago I bought a Paco Tool and started experimenting on CCI .22 Long CB's. These are my pest control rounds because I don't want to make too much noise, out of respect for the neighbors. I have two vegetable gardens and 17 tropical fruit trees to protect, so I do a lot of shooting around here, day and night.
The first thing I noticed with my first batch of "Pacoized" CB's was an improvement in accuracy. Much smaller groups than with unaltered bullets.
Next, I noticed that the CB hollowpoints I created don't mushroom, no matter what they hit. I even tried it on a wet phone book at point blank range. The recovered bullets looked unfired. It appears they are too underpowered to expand the hollowpoint bullet.
That being said, I also noticed that these "Pacoized" CB hollowpoint bullets seem to kill a little more cleanly than unaltered bullets. The gourmet mushroom-eating squirrel I whacked yesterday couldn't have fallen deader quicker no matter what I hit him with. As with all the other garden-raiding varmints I've killed in the months since I've altered these bullets, the entrance hole was the same diameter as the exit hole.
All in all, I'm glad I bought the Paco Tool. I can't wait to try it on more high-velocity .22 ammo.
Have you run CB's through your Paco Tool?
Anybody Shoot "Pacoized" .22 CB's?

I've run them through an SGB tool, the BELJAN. Yes, they kill better with a big old flat point!

I have tried them too. I just make nice little wad cutters with them and I punch paper for fun. The do shoot more accurately and they make a really nice clean hole.

Uh, for us non-Martian speakers, could you translate what SGB and BELJAN mean? Thanks!Hobie wrote:I've run them through an SGB tool, the BELJAN. Yes, they kill better with a big old flat point!

SGB= Small Game Bullet? Isn't that the one where you file the tip off the bullet?
