Refinishing 336 Marlin stock
Hey Guys, I'm converting my 336W 30/30 from a pistol grip to straight stock without buying parts. It's coming out very nice actually, all I have to do now is the lever & it's done other than refinishing. I'd like to see some pics of guns you've done with different shades of stain, I don't know what color to go with. This is my first attempt at any kind of gun work but so far this has been pretty simple, I also slimmed down the forearm stock & sanded all the checkering off. I will put some pics up when it's done. Thanks, John

I have had good results with a stain/filler from Brownells called "French Red" and then about 8 coats of Tru-Oil

French Red +1 Two coats are almost the same color as the old Win. stain.

You can also mix dark walnut and red mahogany stain 50/50 and get that red look on walnut stocks. Have done a bunch and they look great. Have fun.
