OT--Name These Cartridges! (Pic & Winners on last post)

Post by Sixgun »

:D All right, Its another nasty day here in Pa. and I'm bored. Too icy to drive to the gunclub or the Valley Forge gunshow, so........lets play :D

Name these, left to right. (GAME #1)
Clues:
1.) All got their start from the middle 1870's-mid 1880's.
2.) One is British
3.) The other two are very American!
4.) Stay out of "Cartridges of the World"
5.) Winner gets a near new Colt Calvary SAA from the Custer Era.
6.) Answers will be posted around 8 EST.---Sixgun

Image,

Name these babies left to right. (GAME #2)
Clues:
1.) All are American military
2.) All are inert (I think)
3.) The little tiny cartridge on the left was used by Alvin York to great effect.
4.) Winner gets a totally restored museum condition 1954 Corvette.

Ok, now I KNOW it's bogus... the 283c.i. wasn't introduced until 1956. The '53 & '54 Corvettes only had an in-line 6.

Thats it! I can't take anymore! :D The humiliation is too much to bear. The cartridges are all .22 CB caps :D

I don't have a clue on the first set but it appears that on the second set from left to right is: 30-06, .50bmg, 20mm, 30mm, and 40 AA.

Am I even close?

I recognize the .30-06, .50 BMG and the 30mm from the second picture. The 30mm is like the one I have in my office. This is what the main gun on the A10 "Warthog" shoots! :D

30.06 Sprg
.50 BMG round
20mm Vulcan cannon round?
30mm Cannon round?
40mm Anti aircraft Bofors round. (ive got a few of these ;) )

Man that blue one sure would be nice in a Trapper, but I'm pretty sure that it would take an 1886 action for the one on the right! Wonder if they make gummy point bullets for them?

You are right! :D Aussie Chris was second. I need your address so I can ship the Corvette. Aussie Chris gets the second prize, the old '55 Chevy thats been out in the field behind my house. Its been there since '68, has lots of lead in it, and was run over by a 6 wheeled John Deere!

Sixgun Jr. You are close. You are right on the first one--its a W.R.A.C.O. 50-110. The second is an original 45-100 Sharps with a 550 gr. paper patched bullet and the last one is a 500 Blackpowder Express with a 485 paper patched bullet.

Yea, the pics a little fuzzy--Sharps cartridges were not headstamped-----Sixgun
Sixgun jr.--You are not eligible to win because you only guessed one cartridge. I do feel obliged though----expect a few empty .22 LR cases in the mail :D
