What do the letters mean on Marlins following the model number.
i.e. 1894T, 1894C etc.
Thanks in advance
Pete
Sometimes I wonder if it is worthwhile gnawing through the leather straps to get up in the morning..................
AFAIK, It's not all in one place, and is usually gleaned through experience - but here's what I believe a few to be (I'm sure there's more):
A = Rifle
C = Carbine
D = Davidson's edition, and some M-39's
G = Guide Gun
M = 1895 in 450 Marlin.
P = Ported, used with 444 and 1894
S = Sporter, .44 Mag 1894 & 444 Marlin
T = Texan, 336 & 444 rifles with straight stock & square levers
AS = Birchwood stocked rifles
AW = Walmart special
CB = Cowboy (octagon barrels)
CL = Classic, Limited
ER = Extended Range (.356 Win caliber)
FG = .41 Magnum Model 1894
MR = 450 Marlin Rifle ILO say, a .450M Guide Gun (M)
RC = Regular Carbine
SC = Sporting Carbine (2/3 mag, pistol grip)
SS = Originally used with 444 Marlin, now all Sporter w/Safety
SS = Stainless Steel (sometimes confused with Sporter Safety)
LTD = Limited Edition
XLR = Extra Long Range (24", lamo stock, stainless)
*** = Stamped on both ends of the model designates a Ballard Barrel vs. the MicroGroove Barrel. i.e, *** 444P ***
