New 22 not a lever
Got lucky and was able to pickup this nice lowwall on Gunbroker a while back. I fitted it up with a spare soule sight, and a lyman 17 front and what a fun shooter it is. No problem hitting the 270 yd gong. It seems to not be real finicky about what you feed it for ammo.

Re: New 22 not a lever
Don,
That's a cool .22. I'm going to assume (?) it's a .22LR. With that long stiff barrel it should be not only accurate, but whisper quiet.
So how long does it take the bullet to get to the 270 yard gong?

Re: New 22 not a lever
Joe it is pretty nice to shoot. The barrel is only 24 inches but it's heavy, and with the crescent butt it holds really nice in the off hand position. Winchester/Miroku saw fit to use match grade barrels and chambers , so it's got tons of accuracy potential.
It actually doesnt' take all that long for those iddy biddy bullets to get to that gong.
Strange as it might seem, the slower target ammo, isn't as bothered by the wind at the long distance as the faster stuff like the RP vipers.

Nice Don! I beg to differ.....it's got lever thingy dangling from it. Sharps, Winchester Hi/Low Wall's and Spencers should all be in the levergun catagory. We can't afford to discriminate these days!

Hours of fun with that cool rifle there... Grab a few boxes of ammo and let the fun begin!! Bead, Post or Aperture in the front sight?

Re: New 22 not a lever
Thanks guys. Yes the gun is a hoot. The trigger is adjustable and the previous owner had it set plenty lite. Have done about 1000 rounds thru it already.
I do plan to use it in the 22 side matches that seem to be springing up at the various BPCR events, and also hope to make it to a 22 bpcr sillouetter match . Also if the local gun club runs it's indoor winter league 22 match we'll be there hopefully.
Ben have the crosshair and circle in the front globe.
That circle fits the 22 chicken sillouette just nice at 50 yds.

Re: New 22 not a lever
Game Keeper are the martini 22's still available over there?
Re: New 22 not a lever
That is a cool rifle! I have one just about like it. My rear sight is a Marbles. I also have the .17HMR version too. They are great little rifles to plink with.
As far as the front globe goes, I have found that I like Lee Shavers inserts alot. They work great because they are so fine.

This insert is a Shaver.
We put one of Shavers spirit level globes on Carols roller, and that is a really nice sight.

Not from over there.... this is mine that started out as a .310 Cadet and was converted to .22 by Sportco when the Cadets were sold off by Defence.Don McDowell wrote:Game Keeper are the martini 22's still available over there?
I had the Tasmanian Blackwood stock made up.

Nice setup. I was giving consideration to switching out my Marbles Tang for a MVA Soule sight. If we had some official matches in my area I might just do that. Cool stuff.

Re: New 22 not a lever
Jay if you do go with a soule in place of the Marbles, I'ld suggest going with a midrange. I have sort of been kicking around the idea of going with a windage adjustable Marbles.
The trajectory of the 22 is fairly surprising, I'm only using about 40 minutes to get to the 270 yd gong , and that's with the 1100 fps target ammo.

Some beau-ti-ful guns you guys have!
Me, I sold every one of mine to some nice old gentleman for cash last month. Said his name was Barry. Barry Hobama. Looked trustworthy. Sorry I don't have any left if anyone comes a knocking...
