336 to 348

Why not a 336 in .338 Win??

Pressures are all listed less than 35,000.

There are a good selection of bullets.

It seems like a good fit.

It would be easier to go with a 33 win round which is based on the 45-70 case and you can handload the 33 to 2400 fps with a 200 gr bullet in 348 you would only jump 100 fps faster same bullet weight and the 348 is based on the win 50/110 case. danny

Look at the COL for the .33 Win.

Frankly, and this is the reason I've not looked harder for a .33 Win EL, the .33 is about a .35 Rem in performance. Not that it wouldn't be fun.
Sincerely,

Hobie

I've always had a softspot for the the M71 and the .348.

When I look at the range of game the medium cals do well, it just seems
to be an answer, not much of a problem.

I think I'll keep this in mind for the near future.

Like Hobie said overall length is to long for the Marlin action. That will be fixed with the 338 Marlin Express. I plan on buying one and shooting cast bullets with it. Ranch Dog has already said he'll be working on a new mold.

Also like Hobie the only 1886 that gets my interest is the 33 Win. It 's the only antique firearm that I would actually end up laying down big cash on someday.

I like the .33 WCF also, but I like the .38-56 even more!
