Chrony suggestios
Just/finally bought a chrony. would hints or tips about using it right the first time thanks.
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

On the upright metal rods that hold the diffuser screens, put a paint or tape line about halfway up on each of them. Then, when sighting, don't let the front sight, or the crosshairs be any lower than that line.
Or, in the alternative, just go ahead and put a bullet through it, and order another chrony. If you use one long enough, you're going to shoot it, and that's a fact.

If you can, replace the metal rods with wooden rods. Then you won't be upset when you shoot one.

Boy, ain't that the truth. Put the thing on a rock or bush, stand a few feet away, and shoot through the one foot hole - works every time. The only advise I've got is get used to hauling the thing around each and every time you got out to shoot. There have been many times I've been out among the rocks and thought "I sure wish I knew how fast this one is going."Lefty Dude wrote:Y'all are poor shots if ya shoot yer Crony's.
Chrony's are so inexpensive now days, you can haul them around, use the heck out of them, and it they break a few years down the road, buy another one. Have fun.

My resides in my range box. So go to Home depot or menards and get a plastic tool box for taking to the range and then it's always with you. I set mine up at about 12 feet because thats as far as the cord for the bench display will let me go.

I've had my old F-1 Chrony for quite a few years - 15 or so IIRC and I've never shot mine either - but a couple of weeks ago, I did knock it over... (muzzle blast).
I suggest getting an inexpensive tripod for your chrony - allows you to easily adjust it and holds it exactly where you need it to be.
Place it about 10 - 15 feet in front of your bench.
I remove the 9v battery when not in use and try not to drop it.
Good little machines.
