Fellow here at work is selling a Win 94 Trapper, 44mag, ghost ring sight, decelerator pad, pre cross-bolt safety.
Ex cond. $400.
How close is this to something I should jump on ???

I bought it.

He said he put the pad on it because it kicks.
One mans "kicks" is another's nudge.

Does a 44 mag trapper kick that much ??

Now I have to do a search and find the good and bad of this gun, especially as to
handloading for it.

You may be surprised how much a 94 kicks in 44mag. It's not that nasty but you'll know when it goes off. I can see someone that doesn't shoot much putting a recoil pad on one.

For 3 decades I wondered why anyone would buy any rifle less than a .348, or maybe a 45-70. I figured a pistol caliber should stay in a handgun, no guts and no bite. But I did buy a 1894 Marlin in 44 Mag 2 years ago, and I was utterly amazed at the recoil, the power and punch that little rifle has. After about 10 or 12 shots, I don't mind putting it down for awhile and letting it cool off, and letting my shoulder normalize just a little. Got more respect now.

I'd sure enough say that is a good buy. If it was here in Central Illannoy Joe Miller and I would have to race for it.
