some levergun apophenia
Since I've been thinking about the model 71 rifle and 348 cartridge again lately, I've read some articles and watched some videos, and one thing I've heard a few times now is how the .348 diameter is an odd caliber size and that possibly Winchester may have been more likely to choose another odd/original caliber size since they had success with their previous odd caliber size for the 270 Win of .277 inches. So yesterday I was watching a Ron Spomer video and heard him say something along those lines, and then something in my head thought to see if there was any relationship between the two numbers (.277 and .348). Turns out if you add 71 (model number of rifle) to 277 (diameter of previous odd cartridge) you get 348. SO, maybe not quite as notable as finding relationships between the dimensions of the great pyramid and the earth, but kind of funny that you can make the numbers work out like that.

I never noticed that, nor heard that about the 270 and or 348. I've always admired the 348 and the model 71 though.
