I come to you for prayer

Post by Scott Tschirhart »

I rarely ask for anything for myself but I need prayer right now.

This is career related.

I have difficult decisions to make and I’m anxious and heartbroken that it has come to this.

Thanks in advance.

Scott, I am so sorry. You have my prayers for wisdom -- and trust that what God wills will come to pass.

Prayers are going out and I'm stealing Bill's formatting because it sounds better than what I'd come up with on my own.

As we say in the Eastern Catholic Church, I pray for you have discernment Scott. Sometimes He grants our wishes, and if he doesn't, there is usually a very good reason for it, and it will reveal itself at a much later date. Thanks for being here on the forum, you make it a better place my friend. May God speed you on your journey to where you belong.

I had a talk with my senior partner at a picnic table a few years back.

Kathy was having medical issues and I had told the Partners that I couldn’t leave her alone for two or three weeks to try a jury trial in El Paso. I needed to stay close to home but I was willing to do anything else.

I trusted him and I asked him what I lacked in his eyes after being a Partner in the firm for two years.

That’s one of those questions that you only ask those who you think have your best interest at heart. I made a mistake in judgement.

He said: “Your choice in life partners is holding you back.”

I was absolutely shocked and had no words to respond.

It was obvious that I was not dealing with what I thought I was.

It is so sad to see the lack of values in people that we think we know and have similar values. I have deal with a similar issue like this as well recently. Prayers sent that you can navigate this obstacle wisely. Regardless of the outcome, I think you are a man of good character and will make the right choices.

Scott,
I will pray for this man you have mentioned but in a totally different manner than what I will pray for you. Stay strong, because it is sad that one 'project' could influence a persons judgement over that length of time and under those circumstances. He lacks the ability to evaluate Total Performance and Dedication.

An aside support for you -- I offer a song that helped get me through several changes during my career. I am 'Only' referring to the words and rhythm of the 'refrain' -- as a inspirational uplifting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhLDA4Wr2GU Ignore that rest of the lyrics. They do not apply to what was at hand at the time. The important part is -- " Ain't nothing is going to break my stride. Nobody is going to slow me down. Oh No! I got to keep on moving."

Continue to truly Love 'Only' what is Real.

Good luck Scott!

I decided when I started my career to not do the corporate rat race. I looked at all of our executives and noticed many were on their second or third marriages (from only focusing on their careers), and some were alcoholics. I'm married to Mrs. Y2K - not to my job or the company. I've always enabled the people reporting me to put family first. It's the only way to go.

Well said.
I hesitated making my most recent post thinking similar thoughts,
But paraphrasing what Doug wrote, this place is special for many reasons.
When my soon to be ex said that she wanted out because of my health issues, the first thing I said to her was that if things were different and she was going through something serious there was nothing that would keep me from making sure she was as comfortable and happy as possible.

I really wish that I had the presence of mind to tell him what I should have in that moment. It was a missed opportunity.

I’ve never seen myself as a coward but I certainly should have been better in this situation.

Most of us have had times where we could turn right or left. I don't believe that we are ever alone in making those decisions. Some test our wisdom, some our courage but all our faith. Hang in there and know that there's a reason.

Major employment changes are never easy. Some are forced on you others you choose. The chosen ones are probably harder than the forced ones. Most folks go through this from time to time. And generally it works out. Keep us posted on how things go.
