Not familiar with that tree, is it in the butternut/walnut family?

Miniature Chestnut , when they are ready ,soon I'll pick a few to show. Used to see them 30-40 years ago along farm fence rows, edges of fields . Not many remain. I need to clean out around mine some.

Ok now I see the similarity in the leaf. Up here we have some American Chestnut, sadly they are still fighting the blight. The stumps are hundreds of years old underground and occasionally they send new shoots. I had one that was about 20' before it succumbed and died. I cut the trunk down and have been using it here and there in projects like fish net handles.
Buddy of mine put in an acre of chestnut blight resistant crossed seedlings about 12 years ago and most are doing good.
It's been said when the Puritans landed a squirrel could go from the Atlantic coast to the Mississippi River and not touch the ground because of the chestnut trees.
The wood is not fit and big resistant.
What a grand species!
