I was watching a documentary about the Bronze Age or something (I can’t remember now exactly) but anyway, the speaker was showing the type of slingshot that is just a leather cup on a thong, that you swing around your head, and then let go, and claimed that ‘back in the day’ a skilled user of such an instrument could easily and consistently hit something the size of a human head at 100 meters.
Not sure if I believe that, but if true, that would be pretty impressive. The people doing the reenacting were throwing stones about the size of tennis balls. That would surely be lethal if it had enough velocity to travel 100 yards.

That thing has merit, for those town dwellers with problem critters but noise sensitive neighbors.
