POLITICS - Bend over and hang on to your socks...

Post by Old Time Hunter »

Well, the greenies got their wishes and stopped the US from at least attempting to ease the pressure from the oil speculators, OPEC, and the major oil conglomerates. They threw out the opportunity to drill for oil in ANWR, recover oil from shale in Wyoming, and drill off our coasts (that's ok though, some other country will surely take advantage of that!). A barrel of crude skyrocketed today on the international market and our stock market dropped 220 pts! LOOK OUT BELOW!!! We're gonna CRASH! With more than 50% of the nation in their 50's looking at funding their own retirement, guess they can kiss that good by....gonna have to work(if you can still find work that is) until ya can't or die on the job. And if you have a job, I hope it is in either government or energy...cause I see a slight additional constriction in the ecomomy!

Good Luck folks!

I may have to become a highwayman and specialize on rich people driving Prius's.

Actually, I am in the food business which is as about as recession/depression proof as you can get - people have to eat. And my company's products are wonderful at making inexpensive but tasty meals.

And I'm hoping that enough people are paying attention to this to make it a big big issue this fall - and I think McCain is really missing the boat by playing up to the small minority of greenies.

This too shall pass, as soon as the speculators are rooted out. FEAR IS DRIVING THIS ADOLECENT BEHAVIOR ON WALL STREET.

Especially since arrests of hedge fund managers were made yesterday, and the Feebs say "more to come."

The market is reacting to the fact that with the Dem's in control of Congress, not only won't they do anything that will really help, but what they are planning on doing - like "windfall taxing" "Big Oil" is actually going to hurt. The market also understand that the probability is that Congress will remain in the hands of these economic-illiterates, and the White House will probably hold their king...

I really think that any Republican Conservative running this year should stand on the platform of "Drill here, Drill now and save money" They will get in. I really think the people are sick of high energy costs. We have the worlds largest reserves and with coal are the worlds true OPEC. Maybe they will live and learn.
