THAT, I like….. BUT……..that sounds like a political progressive thing as the so-important-elitists from Hollywood say they don’t celebrate Thanksgiving.

Imagine that…a whitey modern medicine man finds an arrowhead…….that is cool and very thought provoking….you have to figure, those Indians didn’t have a CNC machine to make those arrowheads and you’d think they would look for the arrow yet today, we are still finding arrowheads.

I believe I have a stone tool factory in the creek about 60 yards from the house. There’s LOTS of quartz everywhere and I’ve been finding lots of stuff that could be hammers, axes, known arrowheads in a distinctive form. The area is littered with chips……the only problem is I can’t find anyone who knows more than me and I know about nothing.

I was outside of Del Rio, Texas years ago when I walked up a little dry creek bed and found a bunch of small flint arrowheads. Because they were all intact and they were all together I fear that something might have happened to their original owner.

There's a field that I used to hunt for arrowheads ... near Mount Vernon, Missouri. About a 10 acre field with the river running around 2 sides and a cliff up the opposite. People been pulling arrowheads, knives, tools out of there for over 100 years. When the farmer plows and discs it, it you walk the field you will find them. I had a coffee-can full I got from there ... some were "Dalton" points which those who know say are 8000 to 10,000 years old. I believe there were "factorys" where the proper materials were available and folks who used those tools knew about them.

There is such a place on my grandfather’s ranch (now it belongs to my Uncle) and it sounds like a very similar setup. Stream and a hill full of very dark chirt.

My grandpa and great grandpa told stories of native Americans who would come by and spend a couple of weeks there and move on before barbed wire changed everything.

I've never found or looked for any of that stuff.
One interesting note is that Mt. Kineo, a large rock monolith that juts out into Moosehead lake, is the largest single deposit of rhyolite in the US. It is supposedly the best flint to use for such things as tools and arrowheads. It was highly prized by the natives, who made an annual trek up there to get it. Examples of it have been found across a wide area, confirming it was valued and traded.
Our shooting range is on the west Bank of the Kennebec between Madison and Norridgewalk, where there was a large village before widespread settlement. About 10 years ago, there were some archeologists digging around. We were worried they'd find something and we'd lose our range. Never heard anything, thankfully.
A few miles upriver, there's some petroglyphs in the rock that can be seen when the river is low. To date, nobody has identified ots meaning or origin.

Mom found arrowheads in the barren desert between camelback and pinnacle peak. it was wilderness at the time.

Finding arrow heads is pretty common here along the Arkansas River, especially in the plowed fields after a rain.
