First Tower Shoot of the Season
Did a tower shoot in WVA 10/29/23 shot a Parker Grade 1 10 gauge top lever hammer gun 32” barrels tight and tight on a #3 frame guns a little over 9 pounds . Was shooting handloaded 1 1/4 ounces of #6’s pushed with 30 grains of SR7625 . I didn’t kill all the birds in the pictures just what I brought home . We were shooting pheasants , partridges and pigeons . One pic is pheasants and the others partridge .

Going back to the same place 11/4/23 and will shoot the same load but in a Parker Grade 1 10 gauge top lever hammer on a #2 frame sporting 30” barrels that are more like mod and full somewhat lighter gun as well . I’m planning on doing five shoots at this place by the end of the year and use a different 10 gauge each trip .

That's a good start to the season, I wish someone had used a Parker Hammer gun where I was gamekeeping it would have made my day..

That 8 gauge would make people wonder how just HIGH I got my birds to fly ....... I can imagine them swapping their game loads for magnum shells in panic

Highest pheasant I ever shot was with a 10g muzzloader! Must of pushed them barrels 8' in front when I loosed. I even had time after the boom to hear the shot connecting with the bird, it fell 100 yards or so behind me!

Of the three or four places I’ve done tower shoots this one I was at Sunday has the highest birds . They had partridge and pigeons every bit of 50 to 60 yards up when they came over the shooters on the backside of the circle . When I e taken the 8 gauge guns only once did it go around the circle with me as I had a sporting clays cart to carry all the stuff and both guns . The last couple times I’ve taken an 8 I shoot it at the first peg then put it in the car of the fellow putting the shoot on and do the rest of the circle with a single gun . The fellows at this shoot usually always ask me beforehand what I’ll be shooting that day , I don’t think anything I’d say would surprise them anylonger lols !
