Funny thing yesterday…….last year or the year before I replaced all of the handles on my working hammers and hatchets with Osage orange except one hatchet which I used oak on………I keep a hatchet next to me when splitting wood for those stringy wood pieces that keep you from totally separating the wood halves……I was chopping on a piece of locust and after the third whack I came down with just the handle in my hand. Anyone behind me 10’ away would have been “axed” in da head. Going out now to make a new handle….out of Osage or.
