Fingers crossed for a Marlin Model 36

Post by Bill in Oregon »

I bought one on Gunbroker this morning. Been way too long since I had a .30 WCF in the house.
Anyway, this'n has some cosmetic issues, but I hope they are only skin deep as I have had a run of bad luck on buying rifles with problems lately -- as in, it needs to be re-barreled or rebored ...

Well I hope you good luck with it, the 36 being the original, forerunner to the 336 I believe. I'd neglected my 336 for the past 5 years, turned into a Mod 64 & 94 Nut. But I hadn't done any shooting whatsoever since last winter-fall. All that sitting around thinking, got to remembering, that my 336 made in 77, which I bought from the original owner in 81, has killed everything I've shot at with it, never failed me!
So last week, I decided, that's enough, and I headed to mountains for the purpose of trying the LVR-Hornady 160gr FTX in it. Man I'm sure glad I did, this bullet and load exceeds everything I've ever shot in it! I'm itching now to get it back in the woods. Felt like a long lost faithful friend, brought a smile to my face sitting up there alone, it resting across my lap!
