I love those kind of projects where you take scrap items and turn them into something useful for you. My wife always complains about the scrap wood, plastic, tin, steel, rods, etc. I have stored in the garage . . . . until she says something like, "I wish I had . . . . ."
Most of the time I can make something that is exactly what she wants in short order and it doesn't cost me a cent.

It appears that you have used a Sharpie marker or something similar to make the size information more legible (at least on the yellow ones)............good work.

Folk who do not use dippers might think your collection to contain a bit of redundancy but there are so many tried and true book loads that fall between the dipper volumes. I found that custom 3D set on fleabay and have ordered it. Of the modern lee c.c. yellow dippers, I seem to reach for the .7 the most often. The 1.9 has turned green from the sulphur in b.p. and is ideal in volume for belt colts.
For consistency I scoop with the next larger size than I actually need with right hand and pour into correct size held with left. Then I strike that one level with the barrel of the now empty larger dipper. One thing I've discovered is that in .45 colt and .44 special, when a historic, universal load cannot be found with the dippers (one is too large and the subordinate one to it is too small) then that smaller one is just right for .45 schofield or .44 russian.

I really like the dippers and I’ve loaded with them since I loaded .30 carbine on a Lee loader at the kitchen table. I was probably 12 or so.
I have a number of these sets and when I find one at a garage sale I grab them because I have several spares in different “kits” scattered around south Texas.

Ysabel Kid wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 7:31 pmAnother question. Does anyone know when Lee Precision went from the black scoops to the red scoops, and then from the red scoops to the yellow ones?
I only have 3 sets of Lee dies. The oldest, a Lee Loader set in 30-30 came to me used, in 1973 or '74. It has a yellow scoop. The other two are regular die sets, one with a red dipper. The 3rd set is the newest, and I haven't opened it up to know what's in it.
