My youngest (31 y.o.) daughter was driving down to visit me for Father's Day, spun out on a wet exit ramp near my house and slammed into a bridge abutement.
Two unknown Samaritans helped her from the Explorer less than a minute before it caught fire.
She was lucky to escape only with a sore chest from the air bag impact, and a serious comuppance for arrogant driving.
I made sure my teenage Grandson (a new driver), and his other new-driver friends got a close look, and smell, at what could happen to anyone not careful enough.
Please feel free to show these pics to your loved ones.
Wow. The best ever gift a Dad could receive. Thank God those people were there to help and did so.
I just bought my daughter a car - used VW beetle a month ago. Had to teach her how to use the 5 speed... anyway, this hits very close to home for me too.

When I printed this thread, and showed it to her - she came to tears of thankfulness that more cared than she had thought.
My Daughter is fine, Thank God, so she took today out of work, and I could run her around to get duplicate identifications & bank cards, etc, that were lost in the fire - all prerequesites to her getting an insurance-policy rental car for commuting to work.
She has more to do here just not her time. A good wake up call about paying attention to conditions. thing like that happen quickly. Glad she is OK. Yep, she's sorer - and has a little nice, purple bruising here & there - but I had her "get back on the horse", yesterday afternoon, and she was a little tentative at first, but soon did OK.
I also made my Grandson get a good, up-close & personal whiff of the burnt car, and can say it made an impression on him - he who usually regards all adults as human ATMs or chauffers.
Jdad - I would heartily recommend you stop with your son at the next crashed car you see, displayed somewhere as an example.
The "close up" looksee has much more impact than just looking at one while driving by.
