Yea GK…..they were good times and I never had the loot to play with during those great times but it was all a good memory. Now I have the loot (for my pittance of a lifestyle) and I don’t have the enthusiasm……

If I was a filthy rich guy like my uncle I’d have a Sherman tank, (maybe a Vietnam era M60), armored personal carriers, machines guns of every style all on a million acres of land……..John DuPont, the whacko who killed his student with a 44 mag used to live about 8 miles down the road. He had all that stuff, even Civil War cannons. I was there one time with a cop who took me there to shoot on his indoor range and saw it all…….this cat was living large on a couple of hundred acres of prime real estate.

I talked to a guy who used to do carpentry work at his place and one time he was working on a staircase and underneath the staircase was 2 cases of scotch from the 1880’s……so he told “Mr. D.” about the scotch and Mr. D. said, “ b.s., if there’s scotch there you can have it!” So…..he took it home and sold off most of it and made a small fortune.

After Mr.D. killed that guy he was a neighbor of mine….prison about 2 miles down the road. He called my buddy Tommy, who owns Targetmaster and asked him to get him real food and if he could he could have the Civil War cannons. I remember this S. well……So Tommy got him the food and Tommy got the cannons. He had them restored complete with carriages and those things that hold the ammo…..sold them for 10G’s each and this was around 1998.

I could go on for hours on John DuPont and the stories….he was a real deal whack job. Never had a girlfriend that anyone knows about as he was pretty secretive about his love life…..highly speculated that he was a “tooter”. 🤪

I won!!!!!!! For a prize I’d like to have the used parts that Jay is taking off Pop’s truck…..take those babies to the scrap yard and make enough for a bottle of MD 20/20.

You wanna hear something funny? Well, you’re gonna hear it anyway……..the guy across the street from me is like a million years old and has lost his inhibitions…..one time he will tell me how nice my yard looks and the next time he will say (for example) that a tree needs trimming and looks like hell……….so…….the other night, after it was dark, I threw an old tire in the weeds he neglects to cut and maintain.🤪. 🤩. 🥳

Hahaha great posts guys! Awesome stories.
My old 59 Willys CJ had a glass sediment bowl too. Those old rigs were made to work on in the field.

My man! Threw a tire in his weeds! I love it. Should have filled it with used oil first. :D
Oh......those axles are just splined on each end. It's held in by the bearing and disk retainer housing at the knuckle. Those are some pretty serious axles buddy. It's like a full floater in the rear. There is the cap with the bolts in the rear hub. Once the bolts are out, the axle shaft can be drawn right out. It's just splined on each end. I had one of those out a few years ago to replace the seal. My dad had never had a full floater out and couldn't believe how easy it was. The biggest advantage is if you break a shaft (not easy with a 35 spline Dana 70), it doesn't just work out of the tube when you drive it.
Sorry if that isn't a good explanation.

Sure! I'll send thise parts right down! The upper ball joint is still good too. Plus, I may replace the wheel bearing and brake rotor. Maybe even the tie rod rod end.
That's a jackpot!
Kinda irks me, as the old man always buys cheap parts store components. I always tell him, only Spicer U-joints, only MOOG steering and ball components. Anything else is Chinese stuff.
Guaranteed, I'll be back into this job in no time.

Called the old man before I left for work. Wanted to see if he'd been working on the Jolly Green Giant.
Color me impressed!
He got the ball joints drove out of the yoke and got the knuckle all free. Then got the ball joints pressed out. He was cleaning the bores and getting ready to press the new ones in. Not bad for almost 82!

Oh yeah! So my buddy got drawn for a moose permit up to Jackman this year. He wants his dad to shoot it with his uncle's old 1886 45-70. It was made in 1896 and is very nice with a strong and clear bore. Only things I can find wrong is a replaced front sight and varnished over wood. Not bad.
So I picked it up this morning cause he wants me to get a load for it, along with one for .270 and .308, for this hunt.
Luckily, I don't have anything to do. :D

Anyway, the last shot this 86 fired was through his uncles head out in the garage. Sad.
My buddy wants to make a GOOD memory with it. I think that's a great idea. Luckily, his dad only hunts with an 1894 rifle in 32WS with the original sights, so he is used to using and shooting old Winchesters. His dad is 77, and an absolute machine. I couldn't keep up with this guy.

Yea…..I bet your buddies uncle needed that last shot like he needed a hole in his head…..(sorry, sick humor) The last shot out of one of my 86’s in 45-70 was also a head shot …..through Sugars head….she was 28 and near death so I took the vets advice and made out the imaginary X….haven’t shot or cleaned it since…about 10 years ago…11 of Unique…we had that mare since she was little….takes a lot out of your soul.

Are you saying Pops rebuilt those knuckles before? How many miles does that thing have on it..400K???

You have 5744? 28-30 grains with a 400 gr. hard cast bullet. That’s the load that dropped 2 elk for me and my boy…..or you can use RL-7. STAY away from slower powders as they will not ignite right unless they are top loads…..hell, 13 grains of Unique with any grain bullet will work also.

That’s a clean looking ‘86. NOTHING…..NOTHING has the soul of an ‘86 or a Colt SAA.

Weeeeee dogggggie!
You be styling bro! That's a primo hillbilly Saturday night right there! I'm jealous as all get out!

Haha strange thing about that. We did the ball joints in Old Red a couple years ago, so it isn't his first go round. He'd probably done them sometime over the last 60 years or so too haha!
That old truck only has 75k original miles on it. As beefy as it is, it's NEVER even had a plow on it. Go figure?
Just the lower on the driver's side. Either it was a factory defect, or the boot leaked is all I can figure.

Now that's some classy brew! Wish they'd send their stuff up here. I hammer on them a couple times a week to send it up.

That Winder is super nice bro.
My buddy a regular one that was super minty a while back. He was big into single shots and had some nice ones. He bought a beautiful 1878 Sharp's Borchart schutzen rifle off my buddy. It was super nice.

Dad,
The only see I saw on your attachment was little cone shaped thingy.

Over at the Colt Forum there was a dust up with one guy calling people “pixel peepers” and another calling people “Colt haters”.

I stayed out of it until one guy called me a Colt Hater….so I came back with the proclamation, “Never could understand it, every forum I’ve frequented over the last 25 years there’s always been a clique of members who want to standing alone on top of the mountain next to the Rampant Colt, all gilded in gold.” 🏆. 😇. 🤪.

Hard to say without seeing more of it. They made those Willys wagons for a long time with not a lot of changes other than the grill and fender noses.
I'd guess early 50s.

Ready to head up the AlCan right there!

Adventure bikes have gotten really big the last several years. We see a ton of them up here. Probably because there are are more miles of dirt roads than paved. The dirt roads are usually smoother too. :D

I’d say the late forties, despite the year on the side…….

Long day…..cut half of my in-laws pasture today. The mighty Kubota 3350 ran a steady 2500 rpm’s for four or more hours.

That’s the truth…….you get on that baby…..(he’s rich, he has the cab with AC and a radio)…..and listen to the motor……you can feel the power of the turbo charged diesel and the mower blades cutting 12” grass and throwing it 8-14’. It’s exhilarating…….one has to experience it to know the feeling. Mine has a cruise control and with the rpm’s at factory set 2500 you’re mildly bouncing around and for real, you can fall asleep.

His Kubota is the next size up from mine……believe his is the L series……

Went out with mom today to pick up a few things…not much….couple of whole chickens at the Giant supermarket for the dogs, some hard seltzer to be drank from glasses that are emblazoned with “Maine”, then to the hardware store to get a quart of exterior varnish and 2 propanes filled up along with some fresh local sweet corn and a watermelon. When I was getting out of the Jeep I spoiled the entire near perfect day by blasting gas as I opened the door. Mom called me every name in the book and a few not on the book.

It was a really good day until “after the Jeep incident”……and after the gas incident which left a big mess in my shorts…….had to throw em out.

Wish Jay would make a trip down my way for a few days of fun and f.arts….my daughter is out of town in St Louis for business….(long story) and we have two free bedrooms…

Woo! What a day.
Got home from work this morning and ripped a couple hours nap. It was so freakin nice out I was sorry I worked last night. My buddy didn't.
Anyway, I was up at 10:30, threw on my boots and vest, and cranked up the Harley. I rolled it up 201 to Jackman. Man! It was just beautiful.
When I got home, Kristy was up, so I shot the breeze with her for a few, then headed for the back garage. Fired up the 240 and mowed the lawn. Then I loaded it on the trailer, came in and had some supper, then rolled it over to Kristy's moms and mowed her lawn. Came home and visited with the wife before she headed to work. Then I fired up the bike, went down and fueled it back up. Then I decided it was such a nice evening, I would take a little ride along the river.
Another 20 miles, now I'm sitting out and having a cold one. Not a bad day

Hahaha oh yeah! We be hicks....
Ok, here goes......

My parents property borders mine. But I kid you not, within just a couple streets, maybe an 1/8 Mile as the crow flies....
Me, me parents, Kristys parents, her sister and husband, my dad's parents/ grandparents and my moms parents/grandparents.

If you listen close, you can hear the banjos. :D

Yeah haha. That picture on the Harley just don't do it justice. That is heading south between Jackman and The Forks. Rt. 201 winds through the mountains and has unbelievable views. My phone just doesn't do justice. Plus I had to snap the pic after digging out my phone while riding. :D
The other pic is through "the turns" around Wyman lake. The lake is actually the Kennebec river, but it was dammed and the town of Wyman is now under the lake. It is unbelievable country. One side of the road is sheer rock and mountain, the other side drops into the lake. It's probably close to 20 miles long. Where my bike is parked is where Benedict Arnold and his men left the river to travel overland to "the carry's", west of the river in the Pleasant Ridge country, on his way to Quebec. There's a plaque behind my bike.

That’s like “super cool”. Only thing you need is a one of your uncles in the same vicinity and we can really tap on the banjos.🤪.

But……….who’s the dude on the railing strumming the banjo with Jon Voight? cousin maybe? Hey, that cat had some bad genes.

Yea pops, there’s nothing like grass fed and allowed to roam free………add some corn and you have a fine eating animal……..up there where Jay lives the girls are corn fed too and they are the reason why big timbers need to be under the bar where they dance…..they don’t even use stripper poles there, they use telephone poles that are sanded smooth……

Nice!

I buy a cow a cow off my buddy that I ride to work with. He usually keeps about 60 head. He has a nice little farm about 10 miles west of me. He has about 500 acres of land a LOT of equipment. Some of the hardest working people I've ever known.

That's why we are on the weekend shift. We only work 3 days. Even still, he has to go do chores even after a 15 hour day. It's getting too hard for his dad to do much. I don't know how he does it. He didn't even have an auto waterer till a few years ago. The only saving grace is its beef cattle only. No milkers.

Hey pops…what’s going on out there…….a shoot out on the freeway…..then a guy walking around an apartment complex nude and then the other person walking around the highway nude and shooting a gun?

Lordy, the world is cracking……and is showing a lot of crack to prove it…..🤪

Rainy and cool day so I spent most of it watching videos on YouTube, I found a channel called Joe & Nic's road trip, they drive through different towns giving statistics of housing prices, incomes, poverty levels, population by race, crime figures and most importantly male to female percentage they even know how many widows live there :? ...now I waiting to see if they go through Cornville... interesting to see the American countryside from a armchair.... 8)

Oh no, my friend! Cornville must be experienced first hand to fully appreciate the experience. :D

Man! Put a bunch of scooters and power wheels 4 wheelers together for the grandkids visit. Then I went over and put the old Dodge back together. It's all rolling now. What a miserable job. On the plus side, probably saved 500 bucks in labor costs.
"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.

You guys had semi exciting on-the-low-side days……GK…..skip the country side and tune into the “hood” ….anything goes there! Sure thing Jay…..$500 in your pocket is better than “da man’s” pocket,,,,,here they charge over a hundred an hour for labor…usually a buck to a buck and a quarter.

Moms on this chicken thing for the dogs……that’s all they eat is roasted chicken…..so the old bat tell me today, “we need chicken”. I tells her, “go”….oh no, she needs an escort…….we get to the Giant supermarket and as expected I was the one to go in…when I come out and get back in da Jeep, mom says, “look at this.”………on her phone she has this guy getting out of his $60K pick up with a big black bag of trash…….he walks in the supermarket, puts the trash in their trash can and walks out and leaves……..that S is third world country culture…

Trump is up for a third indictment……all the time Hollywood is filming a movie in my garage,
