Does a Marlin 336 chambered in 35 Remington have micro groove or Ballard rifling?

During certain periods of manufacture, yes, but not the earliest nor the ones made today. You can easily look at the bore and identify which you have.

My 336 in 35 rem was made in 1969 and has microgroove rifling

Microgroove here too. 1980's.
I think the 'XLR' series may have been the Ballard style 1:16" rifling. Not sure.

Pretty sure all micro groove are barrel marked , Ballard has 6 grooves.
