Another one gone, Ontario Knife Company
Apparently, I don't get out as much as I should. First time I've heard of this
https://www.oleantimesherald.com/news/o ... a81a3.html
Company website down. My enabler, Smoky Mountain Knife Works shows brand name search of about 100 items, only 25 or so in stock.
Several other catalog sites also show low/no stock.
I just ordered a classic fighting knife (model 498) off the 'zon, so now I'll have a complete set of Camillus, Case, Kabar, and OKC.
Looks like the Old Hickory line is will be gone too. I have their low end hunting knife, and several of the kitchen knives in my vacation/travelling chef's kit.
Can't even begin to think of all the old 'classic' names gone, or moved to a cheaper version overseas.
(sigh)

Folks aren't buying their stuff. It's the way of the world. And for the aficionados, there are just so darned many boutique/custom knife makers out there ...

Believe Bill in Oregon is onto it.
The most important aspect of this signature line is that you don't realize it doesn't say anything significant until you are just about done reading it & then it is too late to stop reading it....

The name may well live on. But like many names it will be followed by made in china.

No it seems like they are done.
Stories keep coming out that it's been "sold" (selling), but it seems to be people wanting to buy remains inventory or equipment, not someone saving the company.

Slow is just slow.
Re: Another one gone, Ontario Knife Company
Lots of their blades were kitchen knives or sheath knives in 1095 steel. Terrible for pocket knives, but good for kitchen work if dried and oiled. Great for sheath knives or swords because of the flexibility. 1095 holds the record in Japan for most Tatami mats cut in a single stroke. Flexibility is the key.

Didn't Ontario Knife make machete's for the US Military?
