Re: Chairmen of the Politically Incorrect

Don't need to see........I've made this trip for over 35 years.

Haha! Your head out the window story reminded me.
Three years ago, maybe, we were coming home from work one morning in that Dodge I had. It had been snowing all night, but I didn't think it was that bad. I was rolling along about 70 when I saw one of those 1 ton service trucks up ahead. I started to get into the passing lane about 200 yards before I got to him so i could evaluate the conditions in that lane. It was good to go so I kept rolling.
When I got closer, I could see it was an out of state contractor for working on power lines. Anyway, about the time I got beside him he decided to start drifting into my lane. I guess the tracks in the snow veered that way and he was trying to stay in them. I don't know, but I was IN my lane and had nowhere to go cause of the bank on the side of the road.
I knew it was gonna be close.......WHACK! We smacked mirrors when I went by. It popped the glass out of mine, but it didn't break. It did break the plastic housing up, but I later taped over the holes with black duct tape and ran it for a year.
Couple days after, I went up my old man's street, and where it comes out on rt.201, there's a little motel. Sure enough! There sat an F350 with no drivers side mirror except for the mount at the door.
I guess mine folded back a lot easier than his folded forward. :D

Ha! Ain’t that somethin’! Did you bother to ask the guy about how his mirror got whacked?……I assume you didn’t bother to stop…

Every time it rains my neck gets all stiff….that is for real, hanging my head out the window with a heavy frost on it. My head never got knocked off …I made that up……..🤣……when a person has to lean to get their head out the window it makes you pass gas and by the time I got to work the passenger window was all defrosted. Couple of times I burned a hole in the seat in that old ‘79 Ford.

Did you ever notice near everyone reads what we write but never say nothing unless there’s something that relates to them? It’s like we have 200 peeping Toms looking at our thread. Hey! You can change the name to “Peeping Tom”……another thing…….for real, how come AJMD is the original author of this thread? I thought you were….

I actually did stop. I pulled over and waited and the guy just rolled by. Truck had Pennsylvania plates haha.

I don't even really pay it any mind. I don't even know how to see if anyone reads it. Doesn't matter to me.
Oh yeah! Well, way back when I was forced to change the name of the thread, I got messing around and somehow deleted my original post. So, that left Doc as the next one.
It was originally titled "Chairman of the Bored", and I made a post in the general section about taking a sled ride one day. I posted a bunch of pictures with it. Somehow, it took over where the old "Gun Room" thread left off.

That line cracked me up

My series one Land Rover had no heater and going to work in freezing fog I couldn't see the road ahead I decided it was best to fold the windscreen down over the hood but the fog was so bad I was scared of being rear ended if I stopped so I drove with my head only partly out of the window because it had sliding windows and I couldn't get my head completely out... :o

Back in the day, defrosters were junk ……now you can heat the vehicle with them. My first car, a 61 Corvair convertible had a heater that was worthless but me and my girlfriends made the heat. I was quite the plumber in those days, now I’m as worthless as the heater in the Corvair.

Ole Yeller is another one with a worthless heater…..the soft top has so many open spots the heat would fly right on outta there and I’d get a shower when it rained…..but it was ….and still is….my favorite vehicle of all time.

My BIL’s old 91 YJ has more rust on it than metal…..floorboards are about gone……one time we were driving along and he says to me, “hurry, put your feet down to the pavement, we have to stop!” You know, like the Flintstones……..I did as told and realized, “wow!” “What as easy way to get rid of weed or beer…..or for that matter, take a leak.” My foot got caught in the front driveshaft and ripped my leg off. I was madder than hell as I had my new Redwings on….

Haha yup. The TJ was the first Jeep with a heater that would do much. However, that excludes the 4 cylinders.
Prior to the TJ, at least up here, you had to drive with a scraper in your left hand. When you were not shifting, you grabbed the wheel with your right hand and scraped the inside of the windshield with the scraper in your left.
Good times.

Jeeps used to be a "lifestyle choice". You accepted the suffering because you wanted to drive them. If it was cold, you were cold. If it rained you got wet regardless if you had a top or not.
Now they are like a BMW with 3 inches more ground clearance. They put a set of plastic "angry eyes" on it, pass around rubber ducks in a parking lot, and call themselves "Jeepers"
Pathetic.

Ok.....I'm done. :D

Yea…definitely not “Jeeps” anymore…..like the Hummer 2…..they put a Hummer body on a Yukon frame. In my not so humble opinion, the last Jeep was the TJ….even after I got it I enjoyed driving the YJ more……

Just came back from the Kubota dealer…..my Z422 which was 7400 and change + tax is now 9200 and change + tax….EXACT same machine….and it wasn’t like it was 20 years ago…..more like under 2 years…..I bought it in Oct. 2021. See what the government did? ……..”shared the wealth”…….I hate those F more everyday…the parasites of society.

I went and bought some Skoal, coffee and a couple of sandwiches at the convenience store on the way up…($53) …the store has a round up program for the “needy” and the cashier asks if I wanted to donate……(.09)… I said “no”, Ive been supporting them since 1968 and no one gave me anything.” Sick of it all.

Then, after I got to the Kubota dealer it cost me $142 for 2 hydrostatic filters, one engine oil filter and one fuel filter, 3 cans of carb cleaner, and a set of blades…..I have no idea how anyone can retire today. I’m glad I planned for it because if you don’t, you can’t retire. Then the Feds keep having these advertisements that it’s not wise to retire at 62. Ha! F ‘em……even at 69 and at “just over the poverty line” in income, we do not qualify for zero help of any kind…….

Those filters are about 2” in diameter and 3” long….the fuel filter is an inline plastic thing.

No wonder why I get so miserable sometimes.

Smells like a dying country to me buddy.
People can keep lying to themselves all they want, but the math just don't add up. The boomers were a big generation of people. They all busted their humps and got the snot taxed out of them. The gen X'rs work, but are much fewer in number. Oooohhhh, we better take more from em to make up for it. The generations since are not only smaller, but useless. Few work, and many are a drain on an already unsustainable system. The boomers and X'rs are retiring. Simple math.
To me, it has just the opposite effect in regards to work. Anyone is an idiot to continue. The country is bankrupt. They will just take more and more from fewer and fewer. If you're going to be broke anyway, why bust your hump? People don't work for nothing. Thats why communism don't work with humans.

THATS why our economy is dying…….especially “more and more from fewer”.

I don’t plan on going broke. I have 6 different baskets with one egg in each to pull from and because of my near poverty income, I pay no taxes on any of them……at least the ones they know about.

My personal mottos have been, “let’s see who can F whom.” And “what’s mine is mine”…….and it’s all legal.—-00

We'll all be broke. If the "money" isn't worth anything, it doesn't matter much how much you have. You saw that with the tractor parts today.
Plus, what is "taxable" or up for confiscation all depends on how desperate they are. Remember, they make the rules.
I remember when we started at work, and we signed up for the 401k. My buddy had his go in after taxes. His reason was, id rather pay it now and have it "my money".
I said no way. Just cause your paying now don't mean that with the stroke of a pen you won't be paying again later. If it ain't in your pocket, it ain't yours. Long as it's in that account, they will do whatever they want. Especially if enough people do it.
They are worse than the mob ever thought of being.

I’ll agree to that….”they make the rules” and they can “change them” for the good of everyone.

You are thinking on a worst case scenario……..Ukraine is near leveled and while the people have it hard, they are moving on. My mother said during the war in Germany (how much worse can that get?) that it was rough, the money was near worthless, but they made it without neighbor killing other neighbors.

The only way it can be rougher than WW2 is for a serious fatal pandemic or a nuke hits and then we will just have to accept our destiny.

As long as I have Miss Apple and Ole Yeller, I’m good. We will put the top down and stop to get 94 octane gas, cruise around the countryside, slamming down beers along the way, but one thing for sure, I ain’t sticking my head out. Last time that happened I got road rash all over my cheeks. And the floorboards on Ole Yeller are strong…….

Oh i certainly hope I'm wrong!
It just seems people aren't made of the same same stuff now as in the 30s and 40s.
There's nothing more dangerous than spoiled, weak cowards.

Yup. I got what I want and need. I own it, and I got a good life. In spite of how I sound, I'm happy and have been very lucky.

And yes, the citizens of Ukraine, just like the citizens of WW2 Germany, have a rough deal.
Because regardless of whether it's their fault or not, that's who pays the price for their government.
There's a lesson there.

Wait until you get in your mid sixties…you stop giving a S. You will feel like you have done your part in keeping freedom and like our forefathers said, we can say the same to the next generation, “Let’s see if they can keep it”.

With the exception of the Roman Empire and possibly the British Empire, not many countries at the top as we are lasted as long as we have.We are due for a downfall and there’s plenty of people and countries that will gladly put their efforts in to see it happen…..even from within……

Haha nice! Yeah, bud light ain't too big a seller around here anymore. It's mostly been replaced by Miller Lite (been my cheap beer for years) and PBR.
I keep hammering on Yeungling to send their beer up here. I can't believe they don't. They'd probably have to build another brewery to keep up.

I tell ya Jay….that GK and his wizardry with a computer………I still laugh once in a while thinking about the helicopter that was made by Rossi……now he’s going to Cornville to get beer………….he would get sick drinking American beer……to me, most of it is blah watered down junk…….back in my drinking days the best beer came from Ireland……can’t remember if I’m spelling it right…McKweuns Tartan Ale…..it had the texture like a light syrup and was red.

It would cause your gas to build up to explosive levels and me and my buddies would ride around with all four windows down even if it was 10 degrees outside….NOT because of the smell but because of the actual explosive nature. If we had a vent window we would leave that open for the escaping violent pressure spikes. Keeping the trunk lid open with a bungee cord with the back part of the back seat removed helped.

Well, pushing 90 and not much else left to do but cut grass.—-006

Yeah, I ran up to camp for a while and finished up the outhouse. I was soaked in sweat in 5 minutes. It's 80 degrees, but you can wring the water out if the air. It's awful. There was a nice breeze. But not in the outhouse. Got a little of it in the camp at least.

McEwan's beer I have fond memories of that when years ago it cost half a crown (12.5 pence) a pint, me and a mate got plastered drinking it in North Wales.
There's another beer called Younger's Tartan bitter that I used to drink, that too is a Scottish brand.
I just tried the Crossing the Rubicon West coast IPA it tastes just like Shipyard IPA.

Haha if beer made me younger, I wouldn't be born for another 20 years. Be like Benjamin Button.

Oh yeah! I forgot you like Shipyard. That's a Portland brew. Pretty good beer too.

Some of the shipyards in Maine are the oldest in the US. Predating the US in a couple cases. The huge pines up on the Penobscot River were perfect masts, with no splicing. Some renowned ships came from here. The Navy ships built in Bath Iron Works have a good reputation.

THATS IT GK!!!! That S was expensive so it only came after some OT or I robbed someone in a gun deal.

Breaking news…5 people shot in a drive by in Philly…..no loss.

Yea Jay…..the humidity is terrible……

I’m beat…..cut the 4 acres all at one time and the bouncing around about kilt me…..hit a big hole and me and the Kubota Z fell down a big hole and when I came to I saw people with squinty eyes so while I was there I stopped in an opium den and toured the Great Wall. Funnier than heck as I was driving the Z down the top of the Great Wall. Was even greeted by Mao Zedong and we had a beer. He f.arts just like me and boy, did we laugh!—-6

Yes, I did GK…..lots of them…..The Chinese employ them in rebuilding the Great Wall as the Chinese have so much American money they don’t get their hands dirty anymore, About every 100 feet on the wall there’s a taco stand which are made from beans and feral cats.

The problem with todays people is that they forgot what fun was all about. Going to the club and blowing $500 is not fun…….And NOBODY hates another person more than the guy who is having fun at little to no expense…….That’s why the 3 Stooges was more fun than anything made in the last 50 years……simple fun with no filth involved…..

They (other people) are more interested in material items and what other people think of them….

This cost nothing…..a huuuugggeeeeeee bird flew in to take a bath.

Yes! I 100% agree…….not only are we rednecks smarter we have life sustaining skills and know how to do without…….just this morning I put on my own socks and boots!!!!!…….and did without toilet paper! In fact, I did without the toilet. I usually go to potty everyday at 9 a.m. and then get up around 10…..

How about the Country Music guy with his new song, “Try Dat In A Small Town”. It already was taken out of the rotation of songs. But those other animals can have rap songs that promote killing of cops. In Jays 1/4 horse town dos guys are already lined up behind the bushes

Our dogs were loaded with fleas so yesterday I gave each a soaking bath in Dawn….kills em all…….the fleas……..we use no chemicals. My son toad me they don’t have fleas in Colorado because it’s so dry.

Yea…GK……that Black and Tan is some good stuff but it’s only a memory. Lately I’ve been drinking a few of those Twisted Teas….no smell…..mom didn’t even know I was drinking.

For those who don’t have a Colt Single Action, you better hurry……It’s in “da know”.

Them hillbillies use a double cause they keep bird shot in one barrel, a slug in the other. That way, no matter what they run across when out stomping the woods, it's in the pot.

Man, what a day! I had to get the big ladder out of the old man's garage. So i had to get the truck out before i tore THAT apart.
I got up there and got the gutters cleaned out. Then got the ladder back and the truck back in. Then they wanted the brick steps out front and the walkway stripped. Lots of moss and discoloration. I cranked up my old Generac pressure washer and blasted that stuff off. What a friggen mess! I needed to change and hit the shower after that.
Then I tore into the old Dodge. After 25 years, you couldn't even see the threads on the upper ball joint, and the cotter pin wouldn't even come out. I drilled that out and got the nut with heat, a pipe wrench, and a 3 foot length of pipe.
I broke my 3 foot breaker bar on the spindle nut. I didn't think we would get that sucker. The town garage (highway department) is at the end of the street. I saw a guy I went to school with out there working on a dump truck, so I stopped and asked what they had for an impact gun I could borrow. I wasn't at all hopeful, as mine wouldn't move it. He gave me an Ingersoll 2235 titanium and said, "Try this".
I hooked that puppy to the air with little hope, but when I bumped the trigger I thought, "maybe".
I tell you boys, i hit that sucker for maybe a 2 second burst and it broke that sucker loose and spun it completely off.
I'm gonna have me one of those suckers! It's almost 400 bucks, but that thing worked like none I've ever used.
Now I'm trying to get the rotor off but quit for today. I have to find a bolt with the same thread as the caliper bolt. Then I can make a jack bolt to pop the rotor off.

Good times.

Yea…when you’re a working man you’re never done. I have a few of those impact wrenches….ones broke, ones a Chicago Pneumatic and works OK but another one, a 3/4” drive that’s used on dump trucks will rip anything off but the air has to be around 150-200.

Yeah, I've seen those big honkers. What I couldn't believe was this thing was half inch drive and we maybe had 90psi on the regulator.
I was impressed.

I have one of those big honkers….rather a pair of them…..mom carries them around with her…..I tell ya Jay…this 3/4” drive impact weighs about 40 pounds and I never use it…….I remember it cost me $35 for the 3/4 to 1/2”adapter…..next time I see ya you can have it.

The stumps been burning for a day now. I love it when the smoke dissipates in an even way so all of my neighbors get to smell it.

This was a little better.
The middle kid stopped over to do a little touch up on his beater car. My little trail bike was in the driveway so Kristy put the granddaughter in the tool crate.

Probably is here too.
You can't see her, but Kristy is crouched down behind the bike, holding her and the bike.

Cute photo, pity Kristy was hidden though..... :D

You guys put me to shame with all your "big boys toys" I think I only used such heavy devices when working in a auto repair shop never at home :?
Never really enjoyed working on vehicles much, too many bleeding knuckles and exhausting my repertoire of cuss words every few minutes, nowadays I just about manage an oil check.
Of course if you are lucky enough to own a much loved vehicle rather than a tin can on wheels then it all begins to make sense...

Speaking of child abuse.

GK…..what Jay is doing is how a redneck keeps lots of loot in HIS pocket……..I’ve done that my whole life but won’t do it anymore except light stuff like brakes, oil changes, etc….must have pulled a dozen engines from cars and replaced em with other junk that kept me alive for another 5 years.

Of course I could have just bought a new vehicle but then I wouldn’t have the Winchesters & Colts I/Jay have today.

Put a trailer hitch on my daughters Jeep yesterday plus put together a pivoting bike rack on it……The first time you do it it take 3 hours…I can do the next one in 20 minutes.

Jay is MUCH more advanced than I was….those steering knuckles/bearings will drive you nuts, usually 11/16’s or 3/4’s. 🤩

That girl of Jays is so skinny you can only see her fingers…..that’s is a good photo for Jeff Foxworthy.

Haha nice wheels GK!

I tell you boys, that old Dana 60 is coming apart dry. First time she's been apart since it left the factory in 98.
Should be gaining now. If I can get the studs drove out of the yoke, I can get the knuckle in a press to get the old joints out and the new ones in.
Hopefully. :D
The axle shaft came out easy enough. At least it was the short side so it wasn't to hard to keep straight when coming out through the seal. I'm praying that seal don't leak afterwards.

I'm getting so I dread doing this stuff too. I don't mind my Jeep. It's simple, I can take my time, and there's no rust anywhere. That makes all the difference.

The axle shaft will come out without taking the differential cover off?

That is nasty work but it’s not like Pops needs it to go to work….like most rednecks, you must have 30 cars over there and at least 2 of them will start up and one will be properly insured/registered.

I went to bed at 1 and got up at 5……..gonna be a long day. The night before I went to bed at 11 and got up at 2…the next day. My sleep schedule is so F up but for some reason I don’t care.

I have worked on a few Land Rovers over the years but nowhere near an expert, however a blacksmith friend of mine almost completely rebuilt a Series One and he could not get it to tick over for more than a few seconds, I told him to check the fuel filter (a little glass bowl) we went outside the gun shop we were BS in and lifted the hood I showed him the filter and it was nearly full of sand. This mechanical genius thought I was the boss, little did he know just how little I really knew...
Same guy also had a Half-track and a Armoured Car, he did work for the SAS he even made my pistol safe and when I told the police who made it they said in that case we won't need to inspect it. I have a few more stories but don't want to get this guy in trouble with the law. Those were good times
