Grail Gun Marlin Cowboy .45 Colt
I should have bought one of these when they were new. But I wasn’t very smart about it. I picked up a new in box Marlin Cowboy in .45 Colt.
The action is reminiscent of a brand new Marlin back in the day and it needs to be shot a lot. But it is accurate with my SAA load out to 8 inch plates at 100 yards.

Oh, it isn’t new in the box anymore.
And it feeds a 270SAA just fine

That was always my favorite Marlin. Hoping Ruger makes one in the future. Nice find!

Nice rifle!
I never knew how much I'd needed a long gun in .45 Colt until I bought a Miroku '73 last year. I've been having a blast with it.
Enjoy yourself!

Very nice. As much as I like 92's, the feed angle on the Marlins isn't as steep so they seem to feed big bullets mo' better.
What are you shooting in 5.7?

My JM 1894CB in .45 Colt is one of the coolest guns I own.

It will need a little TLC and a little polishing but I like what I’m seeing so far. No visible fouling in the bore after shooting quite a bit.
Re: Grail Gun Marlin Cowboy .45 Colt
I have one myself in 45 Colt.
Very accurate round thru the long octagonal barrel!
I'm sure you're going to love it!

I forgot about the Rock, the last one to catch my eye was the S&W. I'm curious about them but not from a tactical or defensive standpoint, more of a .22 Hornet you can hang on your belt thing.

Those 5.7s are fun. i bought the Ruger carbine last fall and as much as I like the new S&Ws, I'm still planning on adding a the Ruger's pistol to the mix. Ammo Inc/ Palmetto has started offering the 5.7x28 and have been meaning to order some to try out.samsi wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2023 8:33 pmI forgot about the Rock, the last one to catch my eye was the S&W. My 24" Uberti '73 Special Sporting Rifle (pistol grip and nicer wood) in .45 Colt is a blast to shoot. I've tried both 255grn and 200grn bullets and at 200yds with a std pressure load of Unique, the 200grn bullets, and a Lyman #2 Tang sight and target aperture it's a respectable bowling pin plinker. I also have a Uberti '66 Yellowboy carbine in .45 Colt and again with the 200grn pills and it's cool flip sight, it's a handy plinker as well.

This looks like it will make a great combo. The SAA runs at 840 fps and the rifle shoots the same ammo at just under 1100 fps.

Re: Grail Gun Marlin Cowboy .45 Colt
Back during the Great Firearms Sell Off of 2022, I sold my Marlin. 45 Colt CB. At the time, I thought about replacing it with an imported or Henry Firearms Henry 1860 in .45 Colt. That idea never panned out as the imports were and still are unobtainium and the best price on a Henry was over US $2200.00!
Of all of the firearms I sold off, the Marlin .45 Colt CB is the only one I really miss. Action was slick, fast handling, and it shot very well at 50 yards. If you ever have the chance to purchase one, do not hesitate -- you will be glad you did.

The most important aspect of this signature line is that you don't realize it doesn't say anything significant until you are just about done reading it & then it is too late to stop reading it....

Re: Grail Gun Marlin Cowboy .45 Colt
With 4 handguns & 6 rifles in 45 Colt I don't need convincing it's great combo! Though I tend shoot a lot more cast, I've got a couple of jacketed loads that I worked up with hunting or SD in mind. I probably need to do more work with the loads I have in more of the rifles... I don't think 4 of 'em have seen anything but cast!

Re: Grail Gun Marlin Cowboy .45 Colt
I only have one rifle in .45 Colt (sniff) but I have 9 handguns. It's one of my favorite calibers. I obviously need to even the numbers.

i am getting old enough [ more than enough , really ] that its a pleasure to find homes from some of my accumulation. my daughter also likes the firearms and hunting, and she is already getting a small collection that will get bigger.
