I stopped in @ Dixie Gun Works yesterday. They ha a new Uberti copy of the Iron Frame Henry in a display rack. I picked it up and fondled it. Tested its heft and balance; threw it up to the shoulder and looked over the sights. It felt as tho' I had put on my old, black leather police gloves in anticipation of having to "lay hands on" someone who needed same. To say it was comfortable is an understatement.
It certainly reinforced my desire for one. But, am I ever lucky, they only had the one in .44-40, no .45Colt! Not sure if I could pass another one of as a "necessary" repair!
Henry in .44-40, Am I EVER Lucky!

Nice find Griff;
If ya need some load data for the piece I have several excellent loads I developed for my Cimarron 73 44-40 carbine. As you know factory 44-40 ammo can be pricey.

Sorry that you did not buy it. I consider my Iron Framed Henry to be one of my better purchases. Not that I have it, I wonder why I waited so long. It does just feel right on the shoulder.

Peter,
Yep, that ondling moved the Henry higher on the "needed" list, but it'll be in .45Colt. And Cimarron is on the short list.

Re: Henry in .44-40, Am I EVER Lucky!
Well, I was torn between 45 colt and 44-40 myself. I finally went 44-40 and don't have any problems. I have handled and reviewed many brands of Henry's now. My local dealer had at least 4 different importer's version on the rack when I select the Cimmaron. In my opinion it was the best of the bunch so I took it. Nice gun and no complaints.
