I wonder how many ARFs we can get to go to try to TSN that particular cat colony...
I'd love to film it.

That is until they start feeding on the local human population. Years ago I asked a S.Dakota hunter what they did with problem grizzlies & he explained the 3 S's to me.We have an animal hugger group in the area where we reside that puts out signs that everyone should learn to live with wildlife. The mayor wrote an article for our weekly paper that there weren't any Mtn Lions in the San Bernardino Mtns because he had never seen any on his hikes,he also said people were mistaking bobcats & yellow labs for lions. He said they were in the San Jacinto Mtns only, however a couple of months before his article reports from night cam sightings at Yucaipa HS indicated 3 different lions were prowling around the high school campus .I missed out on those" informative meetings" but I doubt anyone would like my input about predator behavior.

Not even then. They've been feeding on folks for a few years now, and the best they do is tell you to stay inside with your pets. Got one running the canyon behind me. When it first showed up, folks called "animal control". They took their sweet time responding, then told people it couldn't be one. The video they shot sorta changed their mind. They called DFG. They responded around dusk, and wisely decided not to try and find it till morning. They look for a few hours, and decided it was somebodies "pet" that got out and had gone back home. Problem is, pets keep going missing, andothers have taken photos of tracks. DFG say's they're fakes. When some toddler gets taken from a backyard, they might, just might, admit it's still running around.

And this is very illustrative of why there are increasing numbers of attacks on humans. Three cubs is a very successful litter. What are they going to eat pray tell?
And since the the naked apes don't present any danger....
They are magnicant predators though - you have to admire God's work.

I thought this is why supressors were invented?
Just don't get caught... it'll mean life in prison.
DFG has reported that there are now more lions killed on depredation permits than there ever was when it was legal to hunt them. So I guess the anti's indeed got their wish!
We have had them in the back yard here. Unfortunately they haven't reliably eaten certain nuisance pets the neighbor's keep - like dogs that bark all night.

The "anti's" usually wind up destroying what ever it is that they claim to be trying to "save"... No hunting, means NO money (from permits / tags) that was used to monitor and manage the population of mountain lions. Up north, the populations grow unchecked and become unhealthy due to competition from there being too many of them. They kill livestock and attack people and pets. It's too bad that more of the anti's aren't becoming food for these critters.
Politicians and diapers both require frequent changing for the EXACT same reason!
There've been several attacks on people, who are easy prey for the cats, in OC. 1st I heard of in many years occured in a new county park off the Ortega Hwy in '89; incidences have increased since then. The offending cat (as I hear tell) is put down, others caught in traps are transported to less populated parts of the state. Dart & relocate was the official policy. Depradation tags were only for livestock depradations. Attacks on you or ypur pets didn't qualify. May have changed in the 18 years since I escaped the asylum.

There is a fine line between hobby & obsession! AND... I'm over it!!
No I ain't ready, but let's do it anyway!
They had a young mountain lion caught in a residential neighborhood in or near Salt Lake City, UT last week. It had to be young because it was dumb enough to be caught by the Fish & Game people. That's not the first time they've had problems there either. They keep pushing their subdivisions up the into Wasatch Mtns. and have had many problems with bears and cougars.
