Hi folks,
Managed to pick up some 44 cal 265gr Hornady Interlocks which I will load of H110 and Viht N110.
Anyone got any experience with either combo?
Should get decent some speed as out of a 20" barrelled lever action.
Thanks in advance,
Scrummy

Re: 265 gr Interlock in .44 mag carbine
I get really good accuracy out of my 94P with the Hornady 265 and even better with the Sierra 250 JFP. I haven't tried H110 but I think it's fairly similar to the Win. 296 I've been using.

Re: 265 gr Interlock in .44 mag carbine
Although not 44mag, my 45 Colt loaded to Ruger level using AA#9 and the 250gr XTP get 1700fps from a 16" 94 Trapper and 1600fps from a 20" Henry Big Boy. No, I didn't typo, the shorter barrel is faster. Seems the sweet spot for 45 Colt high pressure load is below 20" barrel length. I might guess that with your 265gr 44 Mag load you might see about 1400-1500fps from your 20" barrel.
H110 and W296 are accepted to be one and the same. Any variance would be attributed to differences from lot to lot

It likely won't expand at magnum speeds since it was designed for the 444.

I have heard that but I've also heard people have had success with this bullet.blackhawk44 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 13, 2023 4:07 pm It likely won't expand at magnum speeds since it was designed for the 444.
I will Chrono it and report.
