to receive a nice hand-made Christmas card from an old friend and fellow-levergunner. Not too many of us these days take time to mail something to others. I appreciate the thought and the time.

My Wife is a Craft Person, She spends many weeks every Fall making Christmas Cards . more than fifty each year. I often wonder How many who receive them have a clue how much work is involved. She Loves doing it.
Merry Christmas Jim.

Agreed. So much thought.
My wife has many skills, one of them baking, which she has been doing pretty much nonstop for a week (it is a miracle I don't weight 500 lbs by the end of Christmas).
But as she will say, "crafting" is not one of them.
But she does have awesome ideas which she then asks me to execute.
So, last year my Mother, who loved to paint, entered a contest at her senior living place to paint a Christmas picture. She ended up winning first prize. Then, the facility's company took her painting and used it for all their Christmas cards that year!
Mom passed in April, so this is our first Christmas without her.
So, Mrs. YK was out shopping recently, and saw a packet of Christmas ornaments that were little picture frames. You put in the picture you want, and presto, you have a custom Christmas ornament. The idea immediately pops into her head - "Grammy's Christmas painting" (our kids called her "Grammy").
Took a bit of manipulation on the computer, as her painting was a portrait layout and the frame was a square, but I was able to move her signature and get most of the painting in the frame. We made these up and sent them to her brothers and sister, and will give one to my brother and sister when we have our family gathering Christmas Eve.
Homemade is often best-made!

And, I've been spending the afternoon designing a plaque for the previous leader of our church's safety team, whose wife passed away this week.
It's also special to the giver, as well as the receiver.
