Ruger Single Six 1993 vintage

Post by Pat C »

Off hand at 20 yrds Fiocchi 22 LR performance ammo
Printing high but decent group for offhand.
Didbt bother adjusting sights as I don't know which ammo yet I plan to run . I don't hunt anymore so probably will be target ammo.

Somebody hacksawed the barrel on this one .I got it cheap a few years back .Since I've properly machined/crowned the muzzle .

Notice the two recovered slugs laying on target.

No ,only have the LR cylinder .I suppose I could send it in for 22 WMR cylinder fit. It was a good price but the barrel issue was a surprise.

You might be able to find a 22 mag cylinder that will fit. Also, IIRC, the front sight is held on by a screw, so you might be able to replace the front sight with a taller one to bring POI down

The rear sight was raised up pretty high so next time Ill have a selection of ammo with me to adjust POI
What I would really like is to convert it to .22 WRF

That's a nice lookin' gun for having been Bubba'd by the previous owner.

Shooting's not bad, either! 8)

Definitely has potential......

I have a 1995 Single Six that I like to take squirrel hunting sometimes.

I miss my single six, was the same vintage but I sold it to get one of the early single six .32s. It saw just 1 box of 32 S&W before it became the donor frame for my .44 special. It's now a 5 shot, 4&3/4" big bore small frame. I need to get it out and go shoot it!

I got this one off gunbroker several years ago for $230, seller didn't show muzzle and it looked like a factory 4 3/4" which is what I was looking for.

The hack job was done good enough I didn't catch it a FFL .Soon as I got home I was upset. Easy fix for me but felt the dealer should have disclosed and when confronted they said all sales final. I would have been happy with $30 partial refund.

All I wanted was a pack and truck shooter, not a pristine safe gun. Thinking highly of getting solid cylinder no flute cylinder and reaming for 22 WRF
