Back in college in the mid-80's I got into trap shooting. IU had a range, and you could shoot a round for $5.00! They had Remington 1100's, which I fell in love with. But on a college budget, I couldn't afford one. So I bought my first shotgun, a Mossberg 500 "combo", which came with a 28" ribbed barrel and a 18" "riot barrel" with a pistol grip. Almost 40 years later it is still a reliable shotgun.
The barrels, however, are not threaded for various chokes. Doing a quick search online, I haven't found a replacement barrel that allows for various chokes. Am I SOL? Has anyone solved this conundrum?

Re: Mossberg 500 question
They used to come with barrels with adjustable chokes. Like a polychoke

It shouldn't be hard to find a 500 barrel with threaded chokes. You can buy them from various online sources as well as Mossberg directly https://www.mossberg.com/parts/type/bar ... ?model=500

Ebay may be your best source. https://www.ebay.com/itm/144741820667?h ... R-T2tsDxYA
Keep checking . They appear all the time.
Here are a couple of "buy it now" options. https://www.ebay.com/itm/195217108464?h ... A&LH_BIN=1

Re: Mossberg 500 question
Our 20 gauge came with a threaded multichoke barrel and a slug barrel, and I'm pretty sure the 12 gauges surely do too...
My 12 gauge Mossbergs were all 8-shot 'home defense's models so no adjustment of choke.

Re: Mossberg 500 question
I believe Hastings USED to make barrels for the 500.
Or just ship the barrel off to Briley and have them put tubes in it for you. There others that can install choke tubes as well.

Re: Mossberg 500 question
Over the past 40 years I have accumulated 3 Model 500's. All came with removeable chokes, so I guarantee barrels are out there. It might be easier/cheaper to find an entire used 500 that has one than to find a replacement ...
Re: Mossberg 500 question
Good luck finding a "trap barrel", but you should be able to find a "standard barrel" like the guys said.
Are you gonna get back into trap?

Re: Mossberg 500 question
Mossberg calls theirs Accuchoke. From what I have seen Mossberg and Remington have the most widely distributed extra barrels of them all. Try the big online stores. Modern barrels should go right on
