First No. 1 ….. first 45-70!
Lee 457-405- powdercoated .459-.460 (unsized)
48.3/H335
CCI 200
COL 2.485”
1/4 turn roll crimp
Hornady 2.035” case- once fired
est Velocity ~1,600 fps
5x5 just under 1.3” at 100 yards (it might have actually been 6 but I got distracted )
The short Hornady case works very well with the short throated Ruger, allowing crimping in the crimp groove
The problem now is the Leupold 2-7 doesn’t have enough elevation! Might learn how to shim on this one

Hi Weiler, welcome back and I enjoyed your pictures and set-up. You went to a lot of work to do all that, I'm impressed. It looks like the receiver of your #1 has some CCH? I wouldn't mind more rife pic's if you have them by chance, but don't trouble yourself to take new ones.
Anyhow, nice job! -Tutt

Now that's a sweet outfit, and it looks like you have some very nice wood on your No. 1. Fine shooting. I have had very good luck over the years with bullets from Lee molds.

Thats a right nice #1, although the opposite end of the spectrum from my 1st #1, a 218 Bee. I'd really like to find one in 9.3 x74!

9.3x62 would suit me and brass would be a heck of a lot easier to come by !

Thank you! nothing too crazy just a general load workup, no case coloring on this but the oil residue definitely made it look like it. I do need to get some better pictures, will throw em up when I doCowboyTutt wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 9:43 pm Hi Weiler, welcome back and I enjoyed your pictures and set-up. Ive been on the lookout for a reasonable priced one for awhile now (IE not gunbroker prices) and found two of em, this one was newer but basically NIB.Bill in Oregon wrote: ↑Sun Sep 25, 2022 8:14 am Now that's a sweet outfit, and it looks like you have some very nice wood on your No. 1. Ive had some good luck with Lee’s as well, these ones came out a tick undersized for what I wanted, powdercoating bumped it up nicely.

I've always done my own triggers. Never done a #1 but looked at diagrams on line.
Doesn't look to difficult to work on
Any way. Nice rifle
