Took the Marlin .30-30 out this morning.

Didn't have a lot of time to put anything on the bench, but had some fun burning powder this morning.

I think I found my new favorite .38 Spl. though. First shot at 20 yds was dead center of the target. Probably should have stopped there.
Ammunition was part of a case of Venezuelan .38s I bought a decade ago. It's dirty, but accurate and have yet to have a misfire. Looking forward to spending more time with the RHKP revolver.
The little Hungarian Walther knock off worked perfectly. I'll try a different brand next time out and have dies and brass for the 9x18, so I'll play around with that someday. For now, I know it works just fine. The little pistol came from the same guy as the Marlin.
The Marlin wasn't a surprise. The 170 gr. CoreLokts did well at 40 yds off hand. I'll get a Lyman 66 on it and work up some handloads. I thought I had a couple boxes of cast handloads, but I must have burnt them up with the Winchester.



Good way to start the day. The sun popped out after some storms had passed, made for a nice morning.

Is the Walther copy a Makarov variant of some sort? Kind of like SKS's , i missed the boat on those rascals when they were inexpensive --- however, unlike the SKS, which (to me ) has the ergonomics and weight of a clunky chunk of firewood , the little Mak's and similar pistols are sleek and beautiful firearms

The Marlin is pretty also ! -- i greatly prefer its appearance to the current synthetic and laminated stock varieties with rails and cheap bluing

Yeah, that's just me. Always trying to overcome that habit. Big reason most of my guns have adjustable sights to compensate for it.

The Walther knock offs are decent little pistols. Still see them around $300, but they are creeping up there. It takes down just like a PPK but I think, no proof, but they feel a little larger than the PPK/s. I had one of the .32 ACP versions when the first hit the states. That one was super reliable as well. Gave it to my former mother in law many years ago.

It's been in the mid to upper 80s for weeks. A big front is moving through today and the high is supposed to be 65 for tomorrow. Finally! Not a big fan high temps and humidity.

Jason, we have been stuck in the mid- to upper 90s for weeks as well with a big cool down to 91 for the final five days of the 10-day forecast. Those highs are actually pretty reasonable; it is the lows in the 70s and 80s that make it hard for me to sleep.
