Possible to sand off commemorative designs?
I love the finish/brass of the Annie Oakley Winchester 94/22, but I hate the engraving on it.
How hard is it to buy this gun and pay someone to re-finish it or somehow sand it off. Is that even possible?

Re: Possible to sand off commemorative designs?
I looked into doing something like that a couple years ago
It was not cost effective, I couldve bought 2 new rifles for what it would cost to change the existing one

Not an economical, or practical solution.
I'd try to sell or trade it off for a plain-jane version,.

Re: Possible to sand off commemorative designs?
Are you talking about metal engraving or on the wood?
If you are taking about the wood just take off the factory wood and replace it with Boyds wood. Simple & easy.
If you are talking about actual engraving there is no cheap easy way to remove enough steel to get to the bottom of it .

Not the worst looking commemorative I have seen. Seems like a lot for a 22 LR though.

Re: Possible to sand off commemorative designs?
Sanding will remove the plating and you will end up with bare metal.
If you like the gold color, better to buy a standard model and have it plated.

Ok, that makes sense, and I was afraid of that. I will buy the 30-30 commemorative instead. I really only want one gun with the gold color.
Thanks!

Or get one that’s well worn.

Buy a Henry Golden Boy.
Actually after seeing the pictures I like that A O but the brass barrel bands would have to go, the receiver is fine. The bands just make it look gaudy.
