Another new knife.
I bought me another pocket knife, just an inexpensive Rough Ryder, the bolster lock trapper with cut red bone scales.
It sure has a strong backspring, not something you could deploy in a hurry and you have to watch your fingers when closing the little brute.
I only buy so many knives because it's frowned upon by the UK government ....

Re: Another new knife.
Apparently we can carry any knife as long as there is "just cause" but in reality we are only allowed to carry in public a non locking folder 3" blade or less.
We can carry a fixed blade skinning knife while hunting but forget to take it off when going for a beer and it will get you jail time.
My EDC "LEGAL" knife is a Swiss Army Walker. The Land Rover is not to scale..

John, my friend:
Don't bring a knife to a gun fight...
...But if you do -- at least get yourself a large Bowie knife!
Old No7
ps: My always-carried sharp blade (except when flying) self-identifies as a "personal finger nail cleaner"; so it is not a knife.

Re: Another new knife.
The UK government regulates pocket knives?
Re: Another new knife.
What does the law say about carrying folding garden saws over there?
Re: Another new knife.
I’m surprised the UK hasn’t outlawed martial arts training. Or, ban folks with prior military service from living or visiting there.

Re: Another new knife.
As far as I know any bladed object can be called an offensive weapon if the police so wish even screwdrivers. Once you let people who can't be called " proper men " make the rules all is lost... The UK is a nanny state ruled by fairies, Canada and Australia seem to be going the same way, for jobs in politics real men need not apply.

Re: Another new knife.
Apparently hands and feet can be classed as deadly weapons if you have had martial arts training, best to learn how to fight the old fashioned way...

Re: Another new knife.
Texas opened up their law a few years ago. No restrictions on bladed objects.

Well gk, I have a Rough Rider somewhere but so many knives in so many places couldn’t locate it.
Here is what currently carry, or some combo there of.

Good looking knife, John, but clearly a Weapon Of Mass Distraction, suitable only for slicing PMs and WOGs....

Re: Another new knife.
Several years ago when I was taking martial arts one of our visiting teachers told us that the UK had degraded to the point that street thugs were using sharpened screwdrivers. If they get caught on the way to do a dirty deed they stick to the story that they're on their way to fix a window for their grandmother.

Nice one John, pretty soon we won`t be able to own a tooth brush as it might rub someone the wrong way.

The last one I got is the Sowbelly with green micarta handles.

GK, the UK government would hate me...gamekeeper wrote: ↑Wed Aug 03, 2022 7:14 am I only buy so many knives because it's frowned upon by the UK government ....
Not my whole collection by far. Just what I consider my EDC knives. Replaces the ol' tie rack.
These are in my master closet and Mrs. YK doesn't mind at all (of course, she takes up 75% of that closet...).

Re: Another new knife.
Good looking knife. I have a few Rough Rider knives of different models. All decent knives.
Re: Another new knife.
This is my favorite belt knife .. worn out of sight.
In Mozambique I always had several machetes at hand .. in the house .. in the truck .. or on my pack. I also carried the spear that I made quite a lot.
EDIT P.S. - I was in Cambridge in 2014 I think it was, and there was a program going where it's slogan was "Save a life .. turn in your knife."
I bought because of the recommendation that was written about it. The writer stated that it had a full tang, a thick blade that would not break, a handle that does not hold fingerprints, and it was cheap enough you could leave it sticking in a bad guy's chest and buy another. In Mozambique I always had several machetes at hand .. in the house .. in the truck .. or on my pack. I live in Canada, I dont leave he house without my buck 110 folder, my 15 year old daughter has a fairly substantial knife collection, this is the newest addition I picked up for her. it looks to be hand made.I had no idea the UK has such strict rules on knives.

I've had very good luck with my sowbelly stockman by Rough Rider. The blades hold a keen edge quite well. - TR
