OT Shotgun question
Hey guys,
Anybody know anything about Interstate/Norinco shotguns? I was looking at an ad for one of their side by side coach guns but was wondering if it's good or what? Anybody have one? Shot one? Is it worth it or should I run away as fast as I can?

Re: OT Shotgun question
My daughter has one in an O/U. On occasion it will fail to shoot the second barrel because it has that recoil cocking 2nd firing pin. I don't know if the S/S has it or is mechanical for both pins.

Re: OT Shotgun question
I have a external hammers model, it is tighter than a bank vault.
My main complaint is that is too tight, perhaps I should shoot it more.
The stock is well, sub-standard

Re: OT Shotgun question
I used one in a cowboy action match a month or so ago in SC. It was the external hammered version and had been slicked up a little and if it came with an auto safety feature, it'd been disconnected. I had nary a problem with the gun. It was quite sturdy (understatement as I think they weight around 8-½ lbs in "Coach" gun configuration), and well made if a bit clunky. I believe that our own "Nate Kiowa Jones" of Steve's Gunz has them available and for a reasonable price. It happens to be down a couple of notches on my "needed" guns list; but I'll be getting one, eventually!

Griff,
My observations as well, now that I am retired; as soon as I get my stock making machine set up, I will adddress the stock problem.
As like you said it is heavy already, I think Mesquite will go well on this thing.

Re: OT Shotgun question
Yes it is made in China and as much as I really don't care for the trade imbalance, etc. I'll say this about my experience with a Chinese gun. I bought a PolyTech AK from china in 1989 or so, just for grins, for about $250. I shot the heck out of that gun. I mean thousands and thousands of rounds fired. Never a failure, never a problem. It just worked and worked and worked. I sold it 2 years ago for almost $1000 and the guy was happy because he was ripping me off. I guess he knew a guy that loved PolyTech AK's and he turned around and sold it for even more. Anyways.... just cuz it's from China don't mean it's necessarily no good.RIHMFIRE wrote:Norinco.....Are they made in china????? I think they are....

And Hobie, I know you usually get what you pay for, but not always. I just bought a used, sporterized, Swedish Mauser in 6.5mm with a Lyman peep site and sling and 2 boxes of ammo for $200 and that thing is one sweet shooting little hunting rifle. In fact I love that little rifle so much I might in bring it to bed with tonight. It's almost the best $200 I ever spent.
I was just wondering if I should get one of these reproduction coach guns cuz I was always partial to a SxS shotgun with exposed hammers.

Re: OT Shotgun question
I don't know about the SxS or the over and unders but a while back, I bought one of those copies of the winchester 93 and was instantly impressed with the way it functioned and its made by Norinco. I have probably fired 150 rds out of it. It was copied so close to the original that even the original flaws were incorporated.
I do agree with Hobie as far as it pertains to most "new" guns being worth what you pay for them. Any exceptions that I have found to this rule lie with used guns and come by rarely anymore.

Griff,
On that double you shot in a match ( Chinese )
Did it have a line around the barrels at about the forcing cone location?
I want to lengthen the forcing cones in mine , but this is giving me pause to think this through some more.
