OT 7.65 walther

I found this walther in a gun shop and it just talked to me .the next step was ammo..ouch..higher than 9mm.
well next I bought dies and a lyman mold.I guess when the walther bug bites look out .

I can't tell you the number of times I almost bought one. I like the PPs best. That is a neat gun!

It must run in the "Pete" family - I bought one two weeks ago, myself, for the same reason.

My Walther was one of two 7.65's a local dealer had - the other a Manhurin - both tagged about $350, IIRC.
They were both in equal (98%) condition, but I picked the German gun because I liked the police laynard loop/ring attached to the bottom of the mainspring housing.

My wife bought one years ago from Wayne Baker. She loves it. It will probably be her CCH gun. I'm thinking of buying one in 380 for my CCH gun. I asked our CCH trainer what he thought of the Walthers. His statement was that he thought they were one of the most reliable semi's on the market, he's never heard of one failing. But he also thought that they had too many "bells and whistles" for quick use. I'm not sure I agree with that statement. The only "bell and whistle" I can think of is the decocker which is integral with the safety, and I find that to be a bonus.

Neat pistols. I had a PPK / 380 for quite awhile. Sold it for some reason. Going to replace it one of these days.

the 9X18 ultra is hard ammo to find so...using a 223 shell holder 9mm luger sizer 380 die to bell the case and a 9mm luger to seat and crimp it can be reloaded .

A word to the wise:

If you're gonna CCW one, or even shoot it - take an India stone to both bottom rear (sharp) corners of the slide(s), to dehorn these puppies.

If it's stainless, you'll never see the work, and a shot of cold blue will take care of the others.

I've always liked the looks of the small Walthers but I get snake bit every time with the slide. I have short fingers but a thick mitt. When I grab the grip the web between my thumb and index finger rides over the small tail and there ya have it. The same problem with 1911's, Browning HiPowers, etc.. without an extended beavertail.

thanks for the heads up.I have been lucky so far...no walther bite....yet most of the time I used a glock 26 or a makarov.

I am with Hobie, I like the PP's best in fact I own one in 22LR, 32acp and 380. I carry the 32 quite a bit. I think the pp's just hold better and point nicely.

Those are some gorgeous Walthers. I've always wanted a PPK like Bond's, but I'd be very happy with a PP. I almost got one at a show last month.
