My Morning Was Free So

Post by JimT »

Saeco 158 gr. SWC 10.5 pounds of bullets 7000 grains in one pound 73,500 grains-465 bullets.JPG
Saeco Mold ... .38/.357 158 gr SWC .... 10 1/2 pounds of them. Over 460 bullets. Now I am sizing and lubing them. This bullet feeds just fine in the Rossi 92 and is pretty accurate. It works well in the .38 Specials and the .357 Magnum sixguns also.

Weather sure was good for it. I have been loading every .38 and .357 empty case I can find.......and I have a few. But shooting .38s is like eating popcorn to me, I just cannot get enough! So I have been emptying cases as fast as I can load them.

That looks like a plateful of fun! Somehow I didn't load a single 38 this last trip. I did get a few bullets cast and lubed, maybe in May. The stash of loaded ammo isn't hurting any, last year was the year of the 44 for ammo burned. Time will tell what get's used up this year.

They are all in a box now, sized and lubed and ready to be loaded when something comes along that is empty. :D

Those are beautiful. I use those ugly Speer swaged bullets. What charge do you like?

For the .38 Special I load 3.0 gr. Bullseye
or
4.0 gr. 231

For the .357 Magnum I load:
8.0 gr Unique
or
14.5 gr. 2400

Sooo jealous!

Both that you got to do some casting... but more so that you had a free morning!

My daughter came home from college last Saturday to work over her spring break. On the way home she was in a car accident. Most important thing, she was okay, as was her roommate... and her cat. So was the driver who hit her (their fault entirely), and the family in the car.

Her car, however, was not okay.

They totalled it on Thursday, so Friday when I got mack into town we did some car shopping. She needs one, as she lives off campus and has to commute 45 minutes every Friday for nursing practicals.

Now is not the best time to car shop.

But we got lucky; we found a nice, safe vehicle for her. So this morning I was buying a car.

I'd much rather be casting!!!

I am glad to hear everyone was OK.
I am sure you will get time to cast bullets. Things even out given time.

I haven't done any casting in ages, and to make matters worse I got an H&G #51 158swc mold at a yard sale last year that I need to try out. I did get as far as digging out the lead pot earlier this winter, but it seems that procrastination may be my superpower.
