Old Primers

My uncle dropped these off along with a couple of large boxes of reloading stuff and some ammo before moving to FL full time. I'd put them in another cabinet and forgot about them. Both are full and there is several hundred stray and partial boxes.

No idea how old they are. Kinda cool though.

If you are the least bit concerned about their age, I will be happy to take them off your hands and test them for you. I would be sure and return them when the testing is done.

Thanks for the very generous offer!

I think I'll take my chances though. I'm not sure where or how he had them stored, but I don't see any real corrosion on the primers.
It will be an interesting experiment.

It's amazing how old components like that can survive over the decades even with sub par storage conditions at times.

I'm currently using primers I purchased in the 1970s, because I don't want to use any of my newer stuff until I know I can replace it easily.

Was thinking the exact same thing. Only Jim is nicer than me. I wasn't going to return them; just give you a report on how they worked. This may have taken several shipments... just to be sure!

Wow Guys! The concern for my well being is overwhelming!

I'll probably use up the small boxes, but I think I'll leave the brick intact for now. I have a pretty big stockpile.

That's what I was doing earlier this month, using up loose boxes and leaving bricks untouched. Didn't have any from that far back though!

Those boxes look good , I'd bet the primers are too.

I would bet every one of them pop without a hitch. I've been using a large stash of CCI primers an uncle gave me before he passed that are from the 50's and 60's. Every one has worked and I can't see any difference in performance or accuracy when comparing to new CCI primers that I've bought.

The CCIs were boxed like that in the 1960s, the Remingtons in the 1970s.

I have some CCI primers packaged like those that I bought circa 1966. I've been using them as needed and they have all worked as new.
