New guy
While a long time reader of this forum I’ve just recently joined. As way of an introduction I have long been a shooter and began hunting in my teens. Growing up I competed on both high school and college rifle teams. Hard to imagine that happening in today’s world but it used to be rather prevalent.
I have always gravitated to the older classic firearms, those with history if you will. Being left handed, lever action rifles were always easier for me to manipulate. My first firearm was a Browning BL-22 that was purchased with lawn mowing money from JCPenney of all places. My father had to purchase it for me as I was only 14. If memory serves it cost $74 and I still have it. Over the years a number of lever guns have passed thru my hands. Some came and went while others stayed. Various Winchester 1894 30-30’s, a Marlin 1895, several Big Bore 94’s and most recently a LNIB Browning Centennial 92 with the original box and paperwork.
Anyway, as a new member I just wanted to say hello.

You should have a few bears down there. Been waiting to see one up here in the central part of the state. There's reports every now and then, but I've yet to spot one.Mark in MO wrote: ↑Sat Mar 12, 2022 4:58 pmHi. We're in the SW part of the state, 20-25 minutes from 3 different state lines.

Re: New guy
That's true, we do have them around though I have not yet encountered one. Had an old hunting partner see a black bear while bowhunting a few years ago and a co-worker's son got a nice one last year during the inaugural black bear hunt. Believe it was taken somewhere SW of Springfield.TedH wrote: ↑Sun Mar 13, 2022 8:26 amYou should have a few bears down there. Been waiting to see one up here in the central part of the state. We've personally had a run in or two with mountain lions around here. They were while deer hunting during the last 20 years or so. Both encounters were in some rough country south of the little community of May, MO where we used to hunt.
Makes things kind of exciting, never knowing what you might see.
