New Sights for 1894C & 94XTR - PICS ADDED

Post by Haycock »

Just yesterday I finished getting my 1894C and 94XTR all dandied up with XS front blades and FP peeps, plus I put a folding-leaf Marble's rear on the 94.

I picked up some more Remington Managed Recoil 125gr .30-30 and Buffalo Bore #19C 158gr JHC, and I am range-bound ASAP to get them sighted in.

I will post a range report with pics.

Fun!!!

This is going to be good! What height front sight did you use with the FP?

.350 for the M94 (ramped) and .550 for the 1894C (dovetailed).

I am trying to upload some pics I just took of them both, and I'll edit the topic header to reflect the addition of them as soon as I get it done. You'll see that the .550 dovetail stands a little proud on the Marlin.

Okay... here they are... as mentioned, the XS sourdough has a gap below it, but otherwise I'm really happy with it (in terms of quality, finish, etc.).

I've been looking for a replacement front sight which is a little easier to pick up in low light. I have a Lyman 66LA for a rear ghost ring/peep. How'd the .550 front blade on the 1894C work out for elevation? Were you able to keep the rear peep sight close to the receiver with that blade height and the Buffalo Bore load you used?

Thanks!

Let you know as soon as I get to the range with it.... hopefully Thursday or Saturday. The Mid-Atlantic Arms Collector show is this weekend in Harrisburg, though, so if I don't get there on Thursday it may be next week. The MAAC is my favorite regional show and I am definitely going!

BTW, the .550 dovetail front looks to the eye to be right around the same size as the factory front... maybe a little taller...
