I wouldn't call a .357 a "big bore" myself.
I'd assume it's the limited number made that makes this an expensive S&W. I personally love Smiths, but wouldn't pay the premium when I could get a regular 27 in similar length barrel, and do the same job with it.

Big fan of the Performance center N Frames.

I bought this 327 TRR8 a couple of years ago, just watched one sell the other day on GB for almost $1600.
I think I got mine for around $900



I know the stags look out of place, but I had them in my cabinet and they fit my hand perfectly. Didn't care for the rubber grips that came with it.

It's all about how badly you want something.

Guns have gotten like cars....about 40% of the car/gun is useless and hardly used or even more rarely, if ever, needed.....it's just another way to suck more money out of you.

I have a few Smiths but this one I consider my "Holy Grail" Model 25-7 .45 Colt I found on Guns International last year. It shoots really well!

The 38/44, a .38 Special on the .44 N frame, with target sights, and 6" barrel.



A close 2nd is my 25-2 in .45 Colt.
