It’s first run guns, some people have more money than sense.
But look at ammo prices, 6.5 PRC 20 rounds over 150 bucks.

Keep in mind that money is getting worth a lot less so that's going to be reflected in prices for everything. It's all relative.

Those prices aren’t relative to anything. A Ruger produced Marlin not worth $2000, or even $1500. You can get a Colt Python or Anaconda for $1500. Or a Supergrade M70. Or a high end Kimber bolt rifle or 1911. Ridiculous is right

Agreed that the prices are crazy high, but just pointing out that real goods like gold or gasoline or 22 long rifle ammo don't change much in value, yet even when there isn't a panic going on 22 long rifle ammo and gasoline both cost 5 to 6 times as much as they did in the 1960s and 70s.
So those of us used to paying $200 for a quality lever action rifle in 1971 have to realize that that same rifle quality, all else being equal, would cost us about $1,000 or more now.
There is definitely a panic-factor and a Ruger-is-better-than-Remlin factor, for sure....!

No they won’t it’ll never get back to what we would consider normal . True it may lessen some but prices of three years ago will never be seen again .Scott Tschirhart wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 12:22 pm Ridiculous prices but they will calm down in a few months.

I wouldn't care whose making them; I wont buy anything when it first hits the market. I always wait to hear or read reviews from the average shooter first. I don't trust gun magazine reviews, as they are often biased, and not very accurate.

MarlinMan93 is onto it! I feel and do the same for not only firearms but tools as well.
The most important aspect of this signature line is that you don't realize it doesn't say anything significant until you are just about done reading it & then it is too late to stop reading it....

Funny thing is that is what my mother says to me these days. For some reason, she thinks I need to buy a new truck. But I have looked at new trucks and I have bought houses for less than what they bring now. My Jeep is paid for. We don't have a mortgage, we don't have a car note....life is good.

We're in the same situation. No mortgage, and no vehicles owed on. We just bought my wife a "new car". A 2014 Subaru AWD Legacy with 8,000 original miles. Didn't really need to replace her Ford, but couldn't pass up a new 8 yr. old car like new that we could cash out for $11k. Especially seeing what brand new cars are going for these days!!

Prices sky rocketing into the stratosphere just like the reincarnated Miroku "Japchesters" (Winchesters).
The new ultra-expensive Miroku Winchesters with the "lawyered up" parts added I don't consider real Winchesters anyway but that's just my opinion.
Whether we want to face it or not Winchester is DEAD.
The new Marlins like the new Winchesters are essentially custom shop guns with custom shop MSRPs.

Wouldnt it be interesting if we discover in a few years that $2000 was a bargain?
Re: Y'all see the prices for the new Ruger Marlin on Gunbroker?
One principle of gun buying the Remlin fiasco burned into my brain forever is never buy first runs.
I'm going to wait a while until the wrinkles (hopefully few) are ironed out.
If the new Ruglins I examine (and I will inspect them closely) measure up to the quality of the JM Marlins I now own in fit, finish, function, workmanship then I might lay my money down if the price is reasonable.

Re: Y'all see the prices for the new Ruger Marlin on Gunbroker?
Many of us old Geezers who worked our whole life think prices are outrageous. Their are many, many people out there who are loaded with money . an example is Walleye fishing on Lake Erie. it has been tremendous for several years. I live 3 miles from the local marina and go walking there several times a week all summer. I see hundreds of boats each week. these guys think nothing of throwing 50-100 K at a boat motor and all the equipment and electronics that go into the Walleye fishing. It is to Me just crazy How many $$$ are spent.

You can kiss what usta be goodbye, yer living in a new wirld now! Ain't nothin EVER gonna be the same! You vill own NOTHING and you vill be HAPPY! You can thank Klaus Schwabe for that!
Then again, how many firearms are there in the USA now???? If even one tenth of them are loaded up, gonna be hell to pay!

Same with the Springfield Armiry 9mm hipiwer remake!
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Oh come on Turtle...just flip that mattress over, cut a little hole in it. one handful of $100.00 bills will pay for the new SA-35 from Springfield . You will sleep better as your mattress won't be as lumpy.... here is one that is affordable. .https://www.gunbroker.com/item/920689142

I have never owned a Marlin of any kind LOL. I would be interested in owning one of these. Yeah, I know, I must be some sort of heretic! But I have always preferred Winchester designs, or even a rare one of 200 BLR. But one of these, I would like to own. Caliber to be determined. Might have to wait a bit to decide. -Tutt

Re: Y'all see the prices for the new Ruger Marlin on Gunbroker?
If you're a hare-tick, you're in good company. The old 35 Texan is the only Marlin here and the only one likely to be. The only Marlin I regret trading was a slick operating & silly accurate 39 Mountie, many years ago. A couple of other 39s came and went, none of them as smooth as the Mountie.CowboyTutt wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 8:09 pm I have never owned a Marlin of any kind LOL. Re: Y'all see the prices for the new Ruger Marlin on Gunbroker?
Watched the Mecum Car Auction last night. They had seven '69 and '70 Ford Mustang Mach 1 and Boss 302 cars come across the line in a row from the same collection. Reserve on all was $100K each. One went for $200K, several in the $170K to $195K range. Cheapest went for $115K. It was insane! The commentators said they have never seen prices like are being obtained at the auctions in 2022. It is evident there is something dire going on with the dollars' value. Pretty soon we will be like post-WW1 Germany and using a wheelbarrow to haul enough money to buy a loaf of bread.
